Sebastian Aho has 6 straight playoffs with 10 points or more and has 8 going into the second round, anyone with a better 10+ point current streak?

Interesting stat. Reminds me of a post I read last year which said that Aho, though being a good player, isn't at the caliber needed of a cup-winning 1C.

That makes sense till you remember that guys like Ryan O’Reilly, Rod Brind’Amour, and even Andy MacDonald have been Cup winning 1Cs.

Aho’s good enough to be that guy. But not without his team stepping up.

McDavid is averaging more than ten points per series for the past 10 series (last 4 years). 105 pts in his last 10 series played.

He's a playoff performer. Unfortunately, he's the level of a player who ideally is #2 on a contender, not #1. But Canes just don't have the high-end talent, so it tends to not be enough.
What teams have their 2C as a 35 goal, PPG player, who is excellent defensively and plays in all situations?

It’s incredibly rare to have 2C at the level of Aho. This only happens when you have a Crosby Malkin type situation. Obviously Malkin was much better than Aho but you get my point

Aho's performance relies greatly on Staal's shutdown line being able to skate against the other team's L1. This doesn't always happen consistently when they play outside of Raleigh, and Staal's line isn't always able to outscore that other top line.

He's a very well rounded player though.

Where in my post did I say "2C"? I'm pretty sure I said "#2".

It's very plausible that a winger, a defenseman, or a goalie is the best player on the team. The top two players don't both have to be centers.

I said that Aho would ideally be #2 for a contender, not #1. I think it's clear enough.

Well then Carolina should be fine, since they have Slavin.

What a weird stat. Basically a which team has the most consecutive years of getting out of at least round 1, or had deep 6-7 game round 1's and lost. Then boom their top line likely has 10+ points.

I don't see how this is noted as such a impressive stat.
The big four on my Leafs has had a combined 33 playoff runs during their careers before this season and they managed to combine for 4 runs of 10 points or more. If my leafs get eliminated in the 1st round this year, that could very well be a combined 37 playoff runs and still only 4 times that Matthews, Marner, Tavares and Nylander have hit 10 points or more in a playoff run! What I wouldn't give for a player like Aho on my Leafs!

And if Aho scores another 2 points in the 2nd round he will join a list of only 37 players so far to have at least 7 playoff runs with 10 points or more. That's petty impressive since Aho is 183rd right now in all time playoff points and only 2 of those 37 players are outside the top 50 in all time playoff points!

Exactly. Its a pretty exclusive obscure list, but also celebrates mediocrity here a bit with only 10 points. Obviously 20-30+ means deep runs.

More the Krejci tier perhaps?

Dude only 37 players all time have managed to have 7 or more playoff runs with 10 points or more and that list basically includes just the all time greats and Bryan Propp. Not even MacKinnon and Makar have 7 playoff runs with 10 points or more despite carrying you to a cup!

Here’s a few of the big current names and their longest 10+ point streaks:

McDavid: 4
Draisaitl: 4
MacKinnon: 4
Pastrnak: 4
Crosby: 3
Ovechkin: 3
Malkin: 3
Kane: 3
Kucherov: 3
Makar: 3
Matthews: 1 (lol)

For the hell of it, I checked on Rantanen. He also has 6 in a row and halfway to 7.
