Value wise it favours Seattle but it doesn't make much sense since Eberle has 2 or 3 years left and I assume they drafted him to be part of the team for that timeline.

wouldn't the pens want to upgrade their d if using up assets ? they seem to have a lot of firepower

I think a first is way too much. Zucker (or Cucker in my realm) isn't a negative value player.

No, their defense is very solid and they need a top-6 LWer.

This deal only doesn't make sense for Pittsburgh because Eberle is a RW, not a LW.
Its Rust proofing. We loose Rust after the season since we won’t be able to afford him with everyone that needs deals. You’re probably correct though that Heinen, Zohorna, or McGinn are not or are not yet second line wingers.

Definitely do this as a Pens fan if the pick is second or lower.

Seattle just wouldn't be interested if it was less than a first round pick.
Eberle's doing well for us and there's no need to move him unless it's a really nice package.
Especially with the fact that we actually don't need more LW's.

Ya crappy deal. Unless Carter stays at LW which he shouldn’t. You have no natural LW after Jake.

Eberle's caphit is 5.5m. Rust's ask is 6m. Likelihood is if we can't afford Rust, we can't afford Eberle.

what about drouin at 50% retained for a 2023 first ?

But Montreal has already traded their spare 1 st to Arizona….. and they are keeping their own as it is going to be top 10…… maybe Pittsburgh takes on Drouin for one if Montreals 2 nds!

We’d be losing both Zucker and Rust though. Rust’s 6M helps with EROD, Heinen, Kap, Carter?…

But in the context of trading for Eberle to replace Rust, it's not Rust's cap hit that matters, it's the difference between Eberle's and Rust's, right? Which means the magic number here is 500k. Which would help a little but not much.
