Lot of Credit to Elvis for weathering the storm early so the team could get its act together. Big time step up from the youth movement in Fantilli, KJ, LDBB, with Monahan out. Werenski as usual this year remains an absolute monster. Also, the fact that this team is missing Sillinger and Monahan and didn't seem to skip much of a beat is a really interesting story as we close in on trade deadline. Silinger+ could be a valuable trade chip if LDBB can effectively step in on those 3rd line minutes.

Holy shit, looks like Dean found a nice combo tonight for LDBB.

I wouldn't think he'd be in the conversation. Berube (Tor), Cassidy (LV), Carbury (Wash) and, yes, Arniel (WPG) would be my contenders at this point.

No insult to Evason. He's doing a fine job.
There is no way Cassidy or Berube belong in this discussion. Being new and making your great team great isn’t an accomplishment, and being a SCF contender when you were expected to be isn’t an accomplishment either.

I can agree with you on Carbury and Arniel though

I hate corny sports terms like this, but this team has a swagger that I'm not sure they've ever had. The confidence most of these guys have is off the charts right now.

We have a superstar in Werenski, and about another 6 guys who can become legitimate superstars. This is as awesome time to be a CBJ fan.

Lastly, I'm pretty sure #5 is our second best defensemen already. He plays well beyond his age. Those blocks on the late game powerplay were awesome.

I think LDBB might be the real deal.

The topline wasn't quite the same though, they gave up more chances than they got, which has been a rarity with Monahan centering.
