I actually hope ownership speaks and addresses the fans.

I think Chevy operates within the parameters of the direction ownership gives him. If he's happy with a playoff contender it's because ownership is happy with it.
ownership is part of the problem, are they going to accept 3 playoff series wins in 12 years with Chevy at the helm.

Chipman already acts as if the team is a charity and not a sports organization keen on winning!

How a team can play so lifeless with the season on the line is a huge issue with this team. Lost count how many times in the second half of the year this team doesn't show up to start a game and let's in a goal in the first few minutes.

Bring on the changes.

Unlike all of you, this is actually the outcome I have been expecting and hoping for all year. I wanted a blowup last summer. There are players on this team that I felt unworthy of redemption. The first half of the season had me quite stressed, but eventually the lack of character in our core shined through. Ideally, they would have missed the playoffs. I will never forgive Nashville for giving up when they still had an outside shot at the post-season. Shit, that one trade where they gave away El Nino to us was probably the difference between us making it and not them. But an early exit, with barely a whimper with their backs to a wall was almost as good.

It is to be hoped the Top. Men. will see the folly of allowing the team as constructed to continue to see the light of day and make major changes to the core. Scheifele, PLD, Pionk, Connor, Helly have all let this team down at critical times this year and I hope I can bid them all a not so fond farewell before next season starts. Not gonna hold my breath though.

Also, good on Bowness for his scathing outburst but there's been what I think is a lot of valid criticism directed his way over the course of the year. I realize he was a last minute placeholder when Trotz grew tired of teasing us but he should be out the door, too. He couldn't cure what ails this bunch and I don't think his approach is suited for guiding a rebuild. Nice guy, straight shooter but that ain't enough.

Finally, please get rid of Chevy. I don't care if he has the toughest GM job in the league, the results just haven't been there. Sure, maybe the next guy will be worse, but Chipman can't look at it from that perspective. He's losing fans and needs to send a message of hope for the future, instead of veiled threats.

Yup, it's his organization. If things aren't unfolding as he wants ultimately he has to make changes.

You're all nuts if you think major change is coming. The begining of the year with the Dubois trade request was the time to rebuild/retool. Ownership and Management will forever be in compete now modr even if it's perpetual mediocrity. They'll use the excuse "well any team that loses a top line center, Norris D, and top line winger it'll be tough to compete" mentality to justify their lack of change and be shocked when fans continue to NOT renew season tickets for that same perpetual mediocrity.

I mean real change is coming whether the org likes it or not. Half our core can walk out at the end of next year.

The question becomes is this org going to wait for it to happen or be proactive for once.

I's agree - assuming it is as simple as that.

Where it becomes a little more cloudy is when you consider the fans and what they want.

If the org is under the impression that all you need to do is get into the PO's, Chevy and Org are delivering (lately).

I think it starting to look like they need to do more than that - not in terms of where they rank in standings but more in terms of the product that they ice.
Is it entertaining? It is what the fans want - especially the ST holders?
There's no way to land on a definitive answer to that question until you see the result - but you still need to speculate - and that's what they pay these Sr guys to do.

So, IMO, it's more than just making the PO'S - and the org might be seeing through the cloud at this point - at least I hope they are.
And that should make Chevy very nervous.

I'd be real surprised if several of our guys aren't already on the horn with their agents saying they aren't interested in being here next year so make it happen.

Just watched the Bowness presser. Bravo. I don't know why anyone would criticize his directness - it's long overdue.

Anyway, this is my last post here for the season (maybe I'll reply here and there, but no more longwinded posts) - time to enjoy spring and... Go Bombers! (an org that is run well)
I just watched it, too. Wow. I would hate to be undressing in that room when Bowness walked in. I wonder how many of those players will be around in September or will want to be here. Bravo to the coach for calling out the malaise that has affected some of our players.

Loved your closing sentiment. It's time to enjoy spring, stop posting and not think about hockey. (If I was at home, we'd be out sunbathing by now, but maybe by next week we'll be into bikini weather here, too.) And in a few months we'll all be eagerly looking forward to the new season, God willing, although sometimes She has a devious sense of humour.

It comes back to my point when we were discussing what can the org do better. One of the things I suggested was that they needed to reach out to their stakeholders regularly for feedback. As a seat holder I still haven't received anything from the org on what my thoughts are on this year. How can you know what your customers want if you don't regularly engage them.

I was on a flight to Vegas yesterday afternoon. Mark Chipman was on the flight. Some people didn’t know him I guess. All kinds of chatter nearby about how the Jets were going to lose for sure, and how it was high time something changed. Curious on what he was thinking then and now.

So glad, I trusted my instincts and didn’t buy tickets for that game.

Exactly!
Bowman was right ... no push back ... no commitment.
I can't recall any team in the playoffs facing elimination who played so poorly and this is NOT the first time the Jets played poorly in an elimination game with this group.

Chipman already acts as if the team is a charity and not a sports organization keen on winning!

A charity where he will make a billion dollar profit if he sold today. Rumour is Ryan Reynolds is offering a billion for Ottawa. Remember when Chipman bought the Jets the dollar was almost at par

If Chevy remains employed it’s all we need to know, accountability is nothing but a word if it only applies to the men on the ice.

We will also see if this team wants to build a contender or if they are willing to putter along in mediocrity, and chasing that first round championship banner.
