Not surprised about the return. I think the nhl kinda realizes what he is, a third liner with an ok but unspectacular two way game. Poor speed, no physicality but a solid possession game . That isn’t gonna fetch much more than this. But what I don’t get is the need to trade him. He isn’t exactly blocking anybody right now? Hope it’s not drury being spiteful.
Agreed with the first part. Doesn’t make Drury any less culpable or trashable but none of his trades are gonna get back what this board wants. Funny how the Dow and Ranger players’ value started plummeting around the time of the Letter #2….

(Single point of solace - at least the picks are this draft and not the popular 2027s I keep seeing)

Again... why are you not waiting toward the deadline. Drury has an awful, awful track record on trades now. People gave kudos for unloading Tuba's money... earlier in the season they reported half the teams in the league had interest this past summer. I'll keep driving that point home. Drury unloaded Tuba to the Ducks because they're one of the few teams with the cap space to afford it at the moment. You completely shoehorned yourself into a deal there with many less buyers. Forget the f***ing season. Let it rot. The time to trade Tuba was either last summer or this coming summer. Many teams will have cap space this summer. More buyers, more value. He got nothing for Tuba. This brainrot trade makes zero sense in terms of timing. Players trade values sky rocket come deadline, what's the point of making these trades right now. Obviously the idiotic Buch/Blais trade is one of his great works. But man, I really, really do not like what he's doing.

Honestly. How can any of you spend a dime on this f***ing team? Like I said, Dallas is the team
I watch for fun because they’re local and decent but I don’t actually give a shit about their results until the playoffs. I can’t wait til they smoke the rangers Friday.

God damn, I have held a VERY low opinion of Kakko and his value for a long time but THIS is a f***ing disgrace of a trade.

absolutely disagree - are you kidding?

No, I'm not. It wasn't a 1 for 1 deal for Jake and I do not believe that deadline acquisitions move the needle for winning a cup.

Even with Jake we lose to Florida as one player does not change our inability to score at ES.

So for me, if you need to add a piece like Guentzel to improve your odds of winning, you already have very low odds to begin with.

No one wearing white in Nashville last night did.
Blocking shots and protecting Igor is the lowest bar you could have.

The only way I'll be OK with this is if they're literally preparing to tank hard and brought in this garbage ass to trade away Miller & Lindgren and then let him walk at the end of the year.

This is pathetic and frankly, outside of drafting KK, everything they've done since then has been an abomination.

I'm so sick of this damn franchise.

Borgen just seems like a weird return.

- UFA after the season
- RHD who doesnt seem to fit after this year considering we have mancini and emery
- 2 garbage picks

Basically just gave him away

I read an article this morning in The Athletic where they looked at other high picks that were traded recently to try to peg Kakko's value. This is what the conclusion was:

"So what can Drury expect? A second-round pick? Maybe a package of a later pick plus a pending unrestricted free agent? Perhaps one team values Kakko enough to make a bigger offer, but that’s no guarantee at this point."

I was hoping for a second but maybe it's in line with what should have been expected.

If you can't read the article, it mentioned:

Dach (former #3) for 13 and 66. Dach was 2 years younger so there was more upside to bet on.

Byram (former #4) for Mittelstadt. Author concluded Byram had more upside and so this kind of return was unrealistic.

Broberg (former #8) leaving for an offer sheet that returned a 2nd. This was the ideal return presented.

Podkolzin (former #10) for a fourth. Podkolzin isn't as good and not as established so you'd expect more.

Newhook (former #16) for a 1st and 2nd. Newhook was coming off two 30-point seasons and had that Cup winner luster.

f*** this f***ing worthless team. Burn it all down. f***ing Pejorative Slurs trade our leader in +/- and the one non-ELC player performing above his cap hit for NOTHING while our worthless vets like Mika and CK continue to suck shit to the tune of -20 every game.

f*** THIS ORGANIZATION

Kakko’s comments did not factor into the team’s decision to move him. Seattle began talks with the Rangers over the weekend, per a league source, and beat out other offers for the winger. The Rangers were not to commit to Kakko, a pending restricted free agent, long term.

Borgen, a 6-foot-3 right shot defenseman, has two points in 33 games this season but had 20 or more the two seasons before, including a career-high 25 in 2023-24. He also played every game in Seattle’s run to the second round in 2023. The Kraken thought he was likely to walk when he became a free agent over the summer, according to a league source, which factored into their decision to move him.

Sounds like there were other offers. Curious what the other offers looked like

Just disgraceful. Couldn’t do a straight change of scenery for a guy like Greig or Pospisil? Borgen and a 3rd? Get f***ed. Get allllllll the way f***ed. Glad we fought to get that f***ing 6th included. That’s the sign of a real tough, shrewd GM. Wouldn’t just take your stud D and a 3rd. Really bent them over and demanded they pony up.
