Confirmed Trade: [SEA/NYR] Kaapo Kakko for Will Borgen, 2025 3rd, 2025 6th

The return for kakko is what surprised me it was like I wanna send him out west so nobody hears from this guy again and get the lowest offer. Kids only 23 and 2nd overall . Heck not even a 2nd round pick ?? Something stinks.
Borgen will fetch at least a 2nd round pick if they trade him at the deadline, so the overall return for Kakko will look much better at that point. With that said, think the Rangers should’ve been able to get more or put Kakko in a situation to actually get closer to reaching his potential without needing to be traded.

I'd take that 2nd round pick then borgen if that's the case anyways I really feel kraken fleeced the rags here and its showing kakko almost a point a game so far in Seattle.

Drury seems to be a guy who's mother never gave him the cutting of your nose to spite your face lecture

A 2nd? That’s unlikely. Maybe with 50a% retention. But even then it seems pricey for his performance lately.

You are in every single Rangers-related proposal and trade crapping on whatever the Rangers did. Good for Kakko doing literally anything offensively for a few games, maybe he can actually keep it up this time. If he had any consistency whatsoever when it came to that side of the rink, he’d still be a Ranger.
He's also constantly crapping on Fox, as if that's really the player on the team to be constantly criticizing.

There's literally no one except this guy that seems to believe Kakko is a future NHL star. Maybe he'll end up better with the Kraken than the Rangers, but he should at least hold his horses anointing Kakko as something he probably doesn't even have the potential at this point to be.

I'd argue all these players that people say reached a higher offensive level after leaving the Rangers (Buchnevich, Zuccarello, JTM) showed more offensive chops than Kakko. Kakko will likely succeed in Seattle, and maybe with better usage and more confidence he eventually hits 60 or 70 points. I thought it was possible with the Rangers, but he couldn't ever get any momentum. What I will pushback against is the idea that because he's slightly over .5PPG with the Kraken that he's on an ascent to some Rantanen type 1PPG+ superstar that he was projected to be. As someone who has watched him for over five seasons, I don't think that's something he's capable of.

Rangers history of high draft picks not going well is well documented. I cant write them all down I'll start it anyway and maybe you can finish it. Pavel brendyl lias andersson dylan mclirath...

More points for the fantasy league excellent. I think the secret will come out soon.😃

So a guy drafted before most people on this site were likely even born, a #10, and a #7. That’s 3 top-10 picks (two of which aren’t top 5), in 25 drafts. WOW, what a horrible track record… surely every team in the NHL drafts so much better!

Since we know you hate the Rangers for some unknown reason, now do your teams’ top 10 picks since 1999. I’m sure there are two or fewer busts in that pack (unless it’s Seattle, Vegas, or Utah).

The “stink” was Kakko’s play in NY. His play didn’t warrant a huge haul, no matter how posters on this site cling to draft status 5 years later as if it means a damn thing. It’s why mediocre to bad players get put on waivers, lots of posters here jump in to make fun of that team saying the player will certainly get claimed because he’s 23 and “full of potential” but “ruined” or “used wrong,” like the highly paid professionals that scout and coach at this level are Neanderthal bums, then express shock that the player clears.

Kakko wasn’t good in NY. He was “okay.” Far from 2nd overall expectations, and JAG. That’s why this return wasn’t great. The asset being traded wasn’t great. To try to dunk on the Rangers for this is… something.
