As I said in the other waiver thread: Nice pick up. He has the rest of the season to earn a new contract and fill a roster spot as bodies are traded out at the deadline.

He’s actually an NHLer, I think. NYI just has too many pets to have kept him.

Hope he gets a shot and fights his way onto the team. I always liked him in Calgary but he just couldn't stay with the big club for some reason.

AAAA player in the NHL in the most textbook way.
Clearly a star in the AHL when he's there, sort of not good enough to be in most teams' top 6, and doesn't have most of the physical attributes you'd want someone to have in your bottom 6.

Seattle has an entire team that is made up of 3rd liners and middle pair defensemen. It’s a weird roster.

Seeing as how most teams in the league had at least one forward in their top eight and one defenseman in their top four that weren't expansion eligible, and teams were able to protect seven other forwards and 3 other defensemen, Seattle ended up with a bunch of ninth most valuable forwards and fifth most valuable defensemen.

I think it is honestly a pretty typical expansion roster.

In other words a roster made up of 4 third lines and 3 2nd pairings.

Actually, as expansions go it's not that bad.

A lot of young fans who judged the Kraken's draft based on Vegas's explorations of bad GMs.

Krakens have done a decent job compared to the previous expansions all the way to the 90s. Anyone remember Senators expansion team?

When Bridgeman's laptop died at the expansion draft and he had zero hard copies of any of his plans or info, so he was going off of memory and he kept selecting guys that weren't eligible?

That was so cringe-worthy, that anyone that saw it will never forget it.

They did a better job because of teams couldn't protect as many players as they used to (Pre-Vegas). When teams can protect only 7 forwards and 3 defensemen you can do better than Nashville, Minnesota, etc.

The Kraken did a decent job but they could have done better - especially with the side deals. But that's another thread.

At least Czarnik gives them an extra body for when this next round of trades begins. Or should begin. There's no excuse for not making 5-6 trades this March.

Seattle eventually has to open 2 roster spots to reactivate injured forwards.
