As we all know the playoff are a totally different ball game...The usual factors which are the same for all teams will be in no particular order: Goaltending... special teams... the luck factor... refereeing... and I'm sure I forgot a few... To me though, assuming the referees let a lot more go than in the regular season (which is probable) , it will give Montreal free reign (almost) to play us very differently than the regular season. There are two ways of looking at this: 1) we are a very very good 5 on 5 team which is a good thing of course and 2) They'll be able to play us in a totally different way than they did in the regular season so our 5 on 5 play may suffer. Aside from the usual concerns as mentioned earlier our ability to handle the heavier forecheck and hitting at a much more intense and physical pace will determine the series. Have we done enough to address this factor?...We'll know shortly... GLG... :thumbu:

Anyone else concerned the Habs have had a week off? Their longest since the COVID outbreak?

many of their core/key players save Suzuki are also 'fragile' ...and Anderson, and Perry usually get hurt once or twice a season and have been lucky to stay healthy thus far. Weber, and Price cant be 100% and Gally, who knows really, it takes a while when you have been off that long to get up to game speed, and playoff physicality/intensity should test that moreso.

do you forget that not only can we do the exact same to them, we also have elite game breaking talent that they do not.

The lineup mentioned in my OP, is the projected lineup by Keefe, so I would assume so.
Really? Surprised by that. I never saw keefe projected lineup, though. Not saying it’s the wrong call because I really like sandin.

Oddly enough..Montreal playing tough and pissing off our vets is exactly the series we need to proper into later rounds.

Pissy vets like Foligno /Thornton / Simmonds / Bogosian and Spezza will make the skill/youth turn another gear

I just like the gritty presence on each line .. Hyman, Foligno, Nash, Simmonds .. Plus Muzzin and Bogo on the back end. Plus vets like Thornton and Spezza.

Concerned about the speed of the 4th line but Keefe, as he's done all year, isn't afraid to throw lines in a blender. While it may seem excessive at times, there is something to be said about the team adjusting to that approach and developing on the fly chemistry with new line mates.

At the end of the day, the series isn't won or lost with tonight's game. But getting off to a good start would do well for this team's confidence levels. I'd be weary of giving Montreal momentum early. Do not give them a chance to put the season-end struggles behind them.

Despite my advanced age I have not forgotten... :)...As I said I'm curious to see if our revamped lineup this year has addressed what I perceive to be part of our problem in recent years.

I hope we give them zero life. Emasculate them from the opening puck drop. Make it abundantly clear they have no business competing against us. Dominate tonight and the series is over

Here is the plan. Don’t make turnovers, don’t give them easy offence. Stay disciplined and therefore grab the lead. That will take Habs away from their game. Score 3+ and win is practically ours.

Has it been confirmed sandin is in over Dermott?

They deserve to go 0% on the PP if they don't play their only competent PP dman on the PP. Though they deserve to go 0% on the PP anyways after not changing the PP coach going into the most important recent playoff for the franchise.
