I'm not ready this time, this upset will be just too hard to overcome (worse than the infamous 4-1 choke job against the Bruins). The first 3 first-round exits were to Cup-favorites and last year to a team that was at least equal to us.

But this time, it's against a team that we owned mostly all season. A team that otherwise has no reason to be in the playoffs. We finally have a 1 vs 4 matchup, we have to win and not in 7 games.

I think we have a much more balanced lineup then then Oilers but Keefe will have to adapt throughout the game

I totally agree you and hope for the best but I'm sure the Pens thought the same thing last year when they played a weaker Habs team. I'm also sure the Bolts thought the same thing 2 years ago.

We do have a much better rounded group of players but when I think of games like when we were leading the Sens 5-1 and then lost 6-5 or like when we lost to the Nucks after their long Covid shutdown and those last 2 games of the season, that's what makes me nervous.
 
Watching the US games with fans and the intensity it brings......then watching the jets/oilers game......this sucks that we have no fans for habs vs leafs.

It is just not the same and my hype would be through the roof in regular times compared to right now.

This just sucks. We finally get the leafs vs habs playoff series and we have zero fans to enjoy it

If it were normal times, then we wouldn’t get this matchup. Take the good with the bad, I guess.

Watching parts of Edmonton - Winnipeg last night and reading about it today, it looks like McDavid/Draisital got fairly bottled up which is probably Montreal's game plan for Matthews/Marner tonight. That will be interesting to see and is slightly concerning.

The good news is, Tavares/Willy/Foligno is significantly better than Edmonton's 2nd line.

It won't really work against us though. We actually have a team beyond 2 players. Edmonton has McDavid/Drai and the rest of the team is pretty garbage. They can try and contain the top line, who plays against the Tavares line ? They'll eat them up.
 
I feel like we did have multiple scoring lines, but we put shutdown guys all over now, so really we have a guy who never scores on the 2nd line, a guy that nothing ever happens on the 3rd along with 2 guys who do nothing but skate real fast.

And a 4th line, who I'm not sure how much they'll play, but man are they old.

Not to mention our 1st line never comes through

Let's put them away the first game properly.
Can't wait for the first few shifts, will be super intense I think with all this long buildup...
 
I guess if I had one more wish, it would be for Bob Cole to call the series. Cole and Leafs and Habs playoffs just seem natural. **Extra bonus** No Jim Hughson :-)

Kinda surprised that Dermott is not playing, must be tough for him but Sandin is as good if not better at the moment with an offensive touch.

Anyways

Lets go Leafs !!!!!
