Think of them as jitters for his first playoff game.Anybody else a little concerned with rebounds off of BBW? Some of those sequences were terrifying.
Dallas has lost something like 8 straight game 1s, so they are in pretty familiar territory. So if they get to 1-1 they'll feel pretty comfortable.5-1 doesn't exactly tell the full story. The Stars had multiple good looks and without Blackwood it might have been a different game. 4giev would have lost it that's for sure.
Next game is massive. Win and it becomes real damn hard for Dallas to claw their way back.
I don't really care about what happened in past seasons TBH.Dallas has lost something like 8 straight game 1s, so they are in pretty familiar territory. So if they get to 1-1 they'll feel pretty comfortable.
Probably not, which is why the Avs need to take advantage while they can.I don't really care about what happened in past seasons TBH.
What makes me a bit uncomfortable though is that they’ve now lost 8 in a row and this can't go on indefinitely. When good teams go on long losing streaks they tend to get hot once they break out of it and we definitely don’t want them gaining momentum and winning 4 in a row.
Yeah I think both teams need to play better if they want to win. I think we have other levels to reach. Winning w/o great games by Mack, Makar, and Nuke is a nice luxury. The Avs in general lucked out to a fairly comfortable win. The Stars had a few huge scoring chances, but Blackwood showed up.
Need to step it up a bit next game.
Just wish Bednar would swap Mack and Nelson with their respective lines. Seems like both would be more effectiveNelson/Drouin/Nuke - this line just does nothing of
I feel like we did that towards the end of the regular season, and for whatever reason, it just didn’t work too well. It wasn’t terrible, but with the way line 1 played, I’d probably leave it as it is for the time beingJust wish Bednar would swap Mack and Nelson with their respective lines. Seems like both would be more effective
Overall good assessment of everyone except I’d say MacK wasn’t just ok, he was good. Maybe not great, but more than ok. He back checked hard, got 3 points, was good overallMakar - off night
Toews - great game seems to raise his game in playoffs a few years now
Girard - steady
EJ - expectations for him are so low I thought he was fine
Manson - looked great
Lindgren - his puck skills (shooting and zone clears) suck otherwise didn’t notice
Necas - threw a hit, skates well, didn’t make poor decisions which I find he does
MacK - just ok night despite the points
Lehkonen - solid as always
Nelson/Drouin/Nuke - this line just does nothing of substance and I hate drouins game
Coyle - great
Drury - great
Kivi - great
Kelly - great
Loc - great
Blackwood was amazing we haven’t seen that in years so it’s such a weird feeling. Avs weren’t outplayed as badly as some are making it out to be but they did give up some very high danger chances. Gotta clean that up, good to take one on the road.
Bednar wants Necas with Mack the same way he wanted Rants with Mack.Just wish Bednar would swap Mack and Nelson with their respective lines. Seems like both would be more effective
Makar is always like that after a long break. It takes 2-3 games for him to regain full effectiveness.Makar - off night
He wants one line he can play 25mins a game. Hah.Bednar wants Necas with Mack the same way he wanted Rants with Mack.
Sucks but it is what it is.

It's his inability to smoothly recover pucks (along the boards and in his own zone) and quickly transition with a sharp accurate outlet pass to a speeding forward. EJ was "passable" (grade wise) but he has indeed lost a step and is not as quick and tight as he used to be when recovering loose or dumped in pucks. The biggest thing I noticed was EJs inability to make passes. He relied almost entirely on high flips to nobody. In the 2nd it got real bad where he turned it over attempting one and Dallas' 4th line almost scored.
Can't be that careless with pucks.
He wants one line he can play 25mins a game. Hah.
One can hope, that this will change as we continue on with the series. Like it did in 2022, when Rantanen was playing more with Kadri and Lehkonen towards the end.Bednar wants Necas with Mack the same way he wanted Rants with Mack.

If I was Dallas, I would exploit that and put on a much harder/quicker forecheck on the Avs D. Even Lindgren does this better that EJ these days.....
