My dad is well versed in Philly sports. He's familiar with every roster, or at least with the core pieces that drive each roster. I told him they traded Laughton and he says "who?" I explained who he is, and he said that the Flyers putting so much heavy value on a guy that casual fans wouldn't even know after years is a bad sign.

If you're wondering how the non-zealous fan feels.

I remember pointing out MacEwen at one point after his time in Philly (probably during an AHL game) and my dad genuinely had no idea who he was. Obviously not as long term of a guy as Laughton but the media and broadcast crew still slobbered over him pretty hard

He's obviously not in the Giroux, Richards, Carter tier. It's actually pretty hard to find a comparison because I can't think of many middle 6 players who played this long for the Flyers. At least in the last 30 years or so.
I guess Simmonds and Coburn are the closest.

Raffl really... only other guy who was not a firm top 6/4 guy to play 500+ games since Brown left the team in 1995.

Even if you take it down to 400 the only other such players since 1990 are Read and Derrick Smith.

Heck, all-time that list (400+ games for the Flyers while being almost exclusively bottom six/bottom pair the whole time) is pretty much:

Scott Laughton (2012-2025)
Michael Raffl (2013-2021)
Matt Read (2011-2018)
Dave Brown (1982-1995)
Derrick Smith (1984-1991)
Bob Kelly (1970-1980)
Don Saleski (1971-1979)
