Confirmed with Link: Scott Laughton (50% Retained), 4th Round Pick and 6th Round Pick Traded To TOR For Nikita Grebenkin and 1st Round Pick

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
I had a Leafs friend just talking about him the other day. He loved him. Super skilled and only 21

Yeah, I'm very very cool with bringing in Grebenkin. Probably just a fourth/third liner at best but that's what Laughton is. Whatever. Theoretical upside exists rather than only certain decline.

The team's insistence on getting firsts in a distant future, though, is not defensible. They have to be gearing up to build right now, not in some far off distant timeline. Their mindset is bad.

I’m glad that Laughton is gone. I grew tired of seeing his sorry act on the ice. He never was able to become a productive NHL center. As a wing he was even worse. Didn’t really have enough speed to keep up with today’s game; not a reliable shot; not strong enough to beat opponents with a physical game. Just a mediocre bottom sixer. They have his replacement all lined up in Luchanko. That they got what they did for him is commendable. For some reason Berube has been after him for months. Happy trails Leaf fans. Enjoy Laughts missing another open net.

They don't really know what they're doing, but this return is adequate. Grebenkin is a character, whether he has any remains to be seen. Michkov needs more than just Zamula and the goalies to drink with. The '27 first is very far off, we'll see. Briere will say 'we wanted a first' just like last year with Walker.

I hope Laughton plays well for Toronto.

The legend of Laughtchenko will live on.

I’d rather a 2027 1st then another 1st this year. Can’t put too many eggs in one basket. 2026 would have been better but I’m not complaining

The best part of this is that it’s a clear signal of a tank of some sort. They know what they are. Farabee, Frost, Laughton gone. The center depth is bad enough that they should be getting good picks the next few years. The center pipeline is barren enough that there is no quick fix so just have to ride this out, collect high picks, and sell off players

The return in a vacuum is perfectly fine. Perhaps even good! But it's part of an entire trend. Delaying picks for years is dumb and a thing they repeatedly do. Targeting energy guys who are culture and buddies with Michkov screams that they're still trying to make culture happen.

Whatever, I'll take the win of them finally getting the guts to trade Laughton.
