Schenn hit on Scheifele

If it was late and he left his feet, this by definition was not a good hit. Which it wasn’t.

It should have been charging as well, not interference IMO.
You can have a good hit with bad circumstances. That’s what this was, the contact of the hit was fine and within the rules, him leaving his feet and it being late was not.

Watch again, Schenn's left skate leaves the ice before impact. He is posturing his body for upward momentum as he's trying to inflict maximum damage to the bigger Scheifele, but the skate is very clearly off the ice before impact on the replays that I saw.
agreed

Didn’t have or touch the puck, so clear interference but if it’s anything more TBD. He’s out injured for at least the rest of the game and we’ll see how long over the next day or so.
If Scheifele plays the puck, that is a good hit. It was called a penalty. Nothing more to see here.

A coach whining about the injury doesn’t change anything, and Scheifele took some solid hits the rest of the time he played following this. Hard to blame Schenn.

I get tired of this appeal to the media to try and manipulate the refs. Playoff hockey is tough, guys get banged up.

Pretending this was a predatory headshot is ridiculous.

Looks a lot like the Ekblad hit to me. Right to the head, leaves his feet, Scheifele is hurt. How many games?

Under Rule 48, these hits are extremely different. The reason Ekblad got suspended was because of the forearm extension that created unnecessary head contact. Here, Schenn just goes through Scheifele with no specific extension or elevation to create head contact.

Zero grounds for a suspension.

It's sad that leaving your feet before contact (to any point of the body) has been normalized. That's a charge.
That’s not what happened.

It's close, but Schenn's right foot is on the ice at impact.

Scheen clearly jumped into that hit and left his feet before contact which is charging imo.
See above.

Hard to see on the replay. Question is whether he targeted the head / head was the first point of contact. I am sure the league will at it.

This has been a mean, physical series.

That is an interesting shot of it, albeit not all the angles the nhl has so we’ll see, video and live it’s harder to tell exactly but as I say that still picture is interesting. It was very close either way to leaving his feet so hard to tell on video. As I said originally I doubt the nhl does anything and my opinion hasn’t changed. Thanks

Blues are such a dirty fricking team. Even if the Jets do win the series, they’ll likely be too injured to win much more, especially if Scheifele is out long term.
Doesn’t the winner of this series get the winner of the Avs v Dallas? Dallas is missing their Norris level D man and top forward.

It's a predatory hit. He sees Schefeile isn't looking and does everything he can to hit him up high.

From my understanding of the league rules, there won't be any supplemental discipline. Hit to the head to unsuspecting players ok in the playoffs. Or sometimes not.

Honestly, it's already a very good outcome for Winnipeg that St.Louis got a double minor on the hit....
Kinda' like the Logan Stanley hit on Kyrou ...huh!

A huge win at home and Arniel is crying about this postgame. Actually unreal how soft this Jets team is, Stars or Avs will pound them in 5 if they make it

Blues just took every opportunity to hit scheifele they could to take out the jets most important player. Mission accomplished. And then noted super star Mason Appleton puts up 3 apples on your shitty team.
Your the presidents trophy winners in a dogfight with the 8 seed who needed to win 12 in a row to get in. Seems like your team is pretty shit in its "best season in franchise history" poverty franchise.

I see 2 minutes for charging here.

What I’d like to know definitively is if Scheifele touched the puck or not as it was rimmed around the boards. The Sportsnet replay in the OP starts just after that would’ve happened. But considering that the puck was on the ice as it was coming along the boards, what we then see is Scheifele swat at it and then the reply shows it bouncing off of Parayko’s shinguards. Logic would suggest Scheifele got a piece of it and deflected it up into Parayko’s shins. Otherwise, the puck still likely would’ve been along the ice (or the ice techs in Winnipeg suck and didn’t edge properly and that’s why the puck bounced up but that’s doubtful). But for now, I’m going off the assumption Scheifele played the puck, thus making him eligible to be hit.

Schenn drives through the body and the head isn’t the principle point of contact. His feet come off the ice but it’s after the hit. To be technical, I could see this as a charging minor though. IF, Scheifele didn’t touch the puck at all, then I could also see 2 for interference…which is what was called on the ice. Either way, it’d be a minor. I don’t remotely see a major penalty here or something even close to rising to supplemental discipline.

Also, I’ll add that Scheifele played another 6 minutes and was then rocked again by Faksa.

Shortly after this, Scheifele left the game. So if the Jets want to argue that it was the Schenn hit that caused Scheifele to be injured, then aren’t they really just saying the coaching and medical staff didn’t do their jobs and allowed an injured, possibly concussed, player to continue playing until he was rocked a 2nd time?

All that said, I hope Scheifele is ok. Not sure what the injury is but would guess either a concussion or bruised/broken ribs. I love hard nosed hockey but wouldn’t wish an injury on anyone.
