Doesn’t address a team need for anybody?

Colorado acquires a top 2 C who they can slide into the 3C roll this year for the playoffs and Copp as the 4C. After this year when Kadri walks, you then make Scheifele your 2C for the next 2 more seasons and Copp your 3C.

Winnipeg gets 2 of the NHLs top youngsters both on ELCs to quickly turn their ship around. The current roster build no longer seems to be working for the Jets. Adding 2 of the NHLs best up and comers could change that and give them cap flexibility to sign another big piece in free agency. Don’t scoff at Compher either, dudes a career 30 plus point player.

Look, do the Avs want to add a good forward at the deadline? Absolutely. Even at C. But it seems like they think they can do that without losing their two best, already-in-the-NHL prospects. Those two "top youngsters both on ELCs" have, as you know, even more value to a cap crunched competitor than they do to a rebuilding squad. Losing them to put on more salary long term? That's a very tough sell. The player(s) coming back better be a perfect fit and they better be in great form. Scheif checks neither box.

It's very unlikely that the Avs try to solve next year's 2C problem at this year's deadline, and rightfully so.

As for Winnipeg's team needs: I'm less able to speak to that, but I was citing what another Jets fan said earlier in the thread. But hey, you like Compher, right? Copp -- who I really hope we target for a trade -- fits an immediate need, which is to make our bottom six better. What do we add to Compher, career 30 point player and certainly not a $3.5mil part of our problem, to make it happen?

A lot. Why do we need a career 30 pt guy? Your 2023 1st if you guys make the finals, a 2nd from 2022 if you don’t. + Bowers.

This isn’t for Scheifele and Copp, I imagine.
No that's just for Copp. I mean it's a good risk for everyone. That if Colorado doesn't make it to the finals they only have to give up a second and a B prospect for a great 3rd line player. If they do make it, which is a good bet to make since they are the class out of the West, they owe us a 2023 1st and Bowers is just a good sacrifice for making the Jets wait till the 2023 draft, which looks stronger, and for the Jets taking a big gamble, because, freak things do happen where somehow the Avs don't make the finals.

Byram was playing like a budding star before he went out - on an ELC, can you really say he's being overrated? I would definitely concede that Avs fans are being too optimistic about his health when estimating his value - but, there are question marks with Scheifele too. And the trade doesn't address a team need for anybody. Even before you get to the subject of contracts, the deal makes no sense.
It has nothing to do with who's healthy or unhealthy, but on a value standpoint alone since too many people take this part of HFB seriously than it should be. Like, ninety-nine percent of these proposals never happen anyway and tend to come across as EA Sports NHL than stuff that will ever be considered in real life. The thing is Scheifele is a low-end 1st line centre, but a 1st line centre nonetheless and those don't come cheap like Newhook and a 1st. Byram for Mark is quite fair if you disregard everything else like age or contract.

If Sakic were really interested in chucking our two best prospects at a trade, he would have to aim elsewhere for something that's a better fit for the roster. Scheifele would also need to return to form for the value to even be close, and we don't know when, or even if, that will happen. Plus - the Jets may not even want to deal with the hypothetical when it comes to Bo Byram. A no for Colorado and also maybe Winnipeg. Better to look at a smaller deal for Copp.
Return to form? He’s a hair under ppg guy.

Also no interest in Byram.. too much concussion stuff already

So I have 2 Avs fans saying it’s a embarrassing proposal and 1 Jets fan saying it’s not enough for them…. So…? Lol.

Avs have been stock piling good prospects for years but where has it got them? Bounced 2nd round year after year…. I’m a big a Avs fan as their is, if your offering me a top line Center and a great 3rd line Center for our 2 best prospects I’m taking that every time. Can’t sit there with all these good prospects and keep getting bounced 2nd round. Scheifele and Copp put Avs over the top compared to Byram and Newhook. He’s also under contract for 2 more years after this. But ya… keep rosterbating our prospects and watching us lose in round 2.
It’s an embarrassing and stupid proposal. Avs get destroyed on value.

Also. Coop having some concussion issues of his own. Took a head shot last night. He’s sustained a few concussions to this season. Maybe have picked up another one last night.

Let’s leave poor Byram alone and do the same for Copp.
These guys aren’t trade candidates. It’a low brow to even try to craft a deal with a player in this dilemma.

Yeah Avs fans clearly overrating Byram here, he is the piece you give up if you're getting someone as good as Scheifele is (if consider talent and position). The problem is there are contract issues in this proposal. Byram won't be traded for a player who is two to three years away from UFA and will get a steady pay increase when his contract expires. Avs need to find more Kadri contracts' in the league, not soon-to-be UFAs instead.
Byram has more goals than Quinn Hughes. In far fewer games and with no PP time. Byram played exactly like an elite 1D would in his age 20 season.

Good to see the Avs board is as welcoming as ever.

Can't imagine why so many Avs involved trade discussions disintegrate on here so quickly. When a group is so eager to start belittling their own, you know the standards are higher than the average board.
