Proposal: Scheifele to COL

It’s no secret that Jets fans are at a all time high frustration with Scheifele and he seems to have checked out on this season. He has 2 more years left on his contract.

Last week Friedman said he thinks Sakic is up to something bigger than Giroux and rumors have since came out that he was kicking tires on Patrick Kane and JT Miller. With Kadri most likely gone next season as a UFA, The Avs will need a legit 2C for their current Cup window. A guy with term seems to be the preference.

Sakic also said he has no real interest in moving Newhook or Byram but I think in the right deal he might.

What do Jets and Avs fans feel a fair deal would be?

If Sakic were really interested in chucking our two best prospects at a trade, he would have to aim elsewhere for something that's a better fit for the roster. Scheifele would also need to return to form for the value to even be close, and we don't know when, or even if, that will happen. Plus - the Jets may not even want to deal with the hypothetical when it comes to Bo Byram. A no for Colorado and also maybe Winnipeg. Better to look at a smaller deal for Copp.

confirmed trades should be red and proposals should be green.
but I’m not a fan of the new board at all…the old board looked better. This just seems a step in the wrong direction.

Byram is not getting traded. It's not my decision, and if you had any reading comprehension skills you'd realize that I wasn't implying that anyways. Why don't you practice what you preach?

So I have 2 Avs fans saying it’s a embarrassing proposal and 1 Jets fan saying it’s not enough for them…. So…? Lol.

Avs have been stock piling good prospects for years but where has it got them? Bounced 2nd round year after year…. I’m a big a Avs fan as their is, if your offering me a top line Center and a great 3rd line Center for our 2 best prospects I’m taking that every time. Can’t sit there with all these good prospects and keep getting bounced 2nd round. Scheifele and Copp put Avs over the top compared to Byram and Newhook. He’s also under contract for 2 more years after this. But ya… keep rosterbating our prospects and watching us lose in round 2.

Avs get the better NHL ready bonified players and the Jets get super high end prospects who are already NHL ready and show they can hang.

I also think it’s closer than some of the reactions but I don’t think either team does it. Speaking as a Jets fan, I certainly wouldn’t do it.

"Starting to sour on Scheifele" wouldn't necessarily mean "take what we can get if it's not the right value".

I don't hate the prospects here but it doesn't fill any immediate holes the Jets have

Byram (when healthy) is the best piece in this deal. And as others have said, he's not going anywhere. Would love Scheif on the Avs, but not at this price. Doesn't seem to be a good fit.

Byram was playing like a budding star before he went out - on an ELC, can you really say he's being overrated? I would definitely concede that Avs fans are being too optimistic about his health when estimating his value - but, there are question marks with Scheifele too. And the trade doesn't address a team need for anybody. Even before you get to the subject of contracts, the deal makes no sense.

Byram and Newhook are the future with their ELC could help in keeping most of their players together. Byram was a budding star and if recovers could partner with Makar for the next decade. Newhook could be the next 2C within 1-2 years. Sch has only 1.5 seasons left with a high cap. If he leaves, AVs have 2 holes that need to be filled.
