Man, when Chef first arrived in Winnipeg, he was a kid! I mean he really didn't have much of a sense of "threat" about him...but he has really developed over the past 2 years! He's starting to take on a much harder, almost "seasoned vet" quality...

I get the feeling we are more likely to overpay on a Scheifele long term RFA deal than we are on a new Trouba deal. As a end result.

thankfully, your feels (and ours) aren't part of the negotiations.

Scheifele will sign something Winnipeg fair. i.e. $500K more than market price per year. A Barkov deal.

Trouba, on the other hand...

I just can't see Scheif getting overpaid. I see him as someone who will take a tad less cap hit wise then what most might expect. Really hope I'm right too because him locked up at a more then fair deal will be huge for our 2019 cup run. ;)

The contracts handed out by Chevy so far have seemed to be fair market value, recent Buff extension included (a few steals, like Perreault's deal). Scheifle will get the right AAV for whatever term he signs. The key question is how long his agent will let us lock him up for. Term is the only real negotiation here.

I'm guessing 7 years, $6.5 million AAV.

8 x 6.25 = 52..5 million (Scheif)

7 x 5.5 =38.5 million (Trouba)

I think both are fair deals.

I'd be very happy if that's the way it goes.

Throwing a dart calling 6 year deals for both.

Scheif 6 years $35 M for $5.83 AAV.
Trouba 6 years $30 M for $5.0 AAV.

Allows both a chance at a big UFA deal down the line.

I thought Stuart was already married. We could see the whole team in Winnipeg next weekend. Scheifele being here seems like a perfect time to announce a new contract does it not?

I'm going to work out, and I'm gonna get on the ice,†Scheifele said Sunday during a break in the second annual Mark Scheifele Hockey Camp. “I'm staying in Winnipeg, because (Mark) Stuart's getting married next weekend. So I'm staying in Winnipeg, working out here, and I'll go golfing.â€

The Filip Forsberg extension with #preds pays him $6M across the board for six seasons.

Do you guys thing Forsberg is a decent comparable for Scheif?

On a 6 year deal that seems to be in the ballpark

Filip Forsberg has signed a six-year, $36 million contract.
10:02 AM - 27 Jun 2016

Forsberg has had 2 consistent 60+ point seasons, Scheifele had last year but did it in 10 less games than Forsberg.

I wonder if Winnipeg could squeeze out 7 years for 42M.

Scheifele is also a center. Forsberg also got zero NTC protection which pumped up his AAV I would think

So it says the Jets organization handed out 8 qualifying offers.Does that mean now they are waiting for their agents to respond on if they accept them?

QO's for the most are just a CBA excercise. Very fee players ever actually sign them. They automatically expire on July 15.
