Series Talk: SCFs Discussion - Looking To Play Spoilers AGAIN - Panthers Tied 0-0

I love the cope on the mains.
"Barkov + Reinhardt won't be able to contain McDrai... Panthers too fatigued... ".
Like these weren't the talking points in last season too.
Barkov doesn't belong in the same stratosphere as Draisatl. That's why he targeted Barkov last season, How dare a mere mortal try to stop a top 3 player in the league?

McDavid needs to have 20 points in the Finals to repeat his production from last season. Bouchard 15 points. Their PK is not running at 94% like last year, more like 70%.

We just need to play our game and bury our chances, they will be there.

it’s either Oilers in 4 or 6

Or

Panthers in 5 or 7

The vibes aren’t great but the narrative is the main reason why.

We’re the evil champion, cheapshotting all that get in our way of defending our title. Then the Cody Rhodes of hockey, babyface Connor McDavid, the chosen one of Canada, with his sidekick Leon Draisaitl, find their way back to the finals to take the championship and make Canada great again.

We need to split in Edmonton and retake home ice. And we need to be tougher on the golden boys.

It was that Barkov and Reinhart wouldn’t be able to contain McDavid and RNH :biglaugh: If I’m not mistaken, McDavid’s production dropped when Barkov was on the ice. But 2 of the best two-way forwards in the league won’t be able to stop them at all.

I really dislike that narrative - how so many people seem to think that great players "deserve" a championship: IT'S A TEAM SPORT!!!! Maybe Edmonton is the better team: and if that's the case, then they do deserve the Cup. But to say that a franchise deserves a Cup because they lucked into drafting a generational talent, that just feels insulting to the sport...

I actually like us going into this as underdogs - I think our team plays better when it's the whole world against them and with a chip on their shoulders. And if we're talking about narratives, I really like the narrative of us as the better deeper TEAM that overcomes the one with the the best player in the world.

TBH, I'm so proud that the team managed to make three straight finals - that's just an incredible feat in this day and age. I honestly think this is a toss-up: we're better than last year but so are the Oilers, and they are a tough match up for us. I just hope it will be an epic and competitive series - just please don't lose three in a row again...

You would think people would support the “team” vs the superstar but never works that way. Especially since he’s in a Canadian market.

As long as they win the cup I’m ok if they lose 3 in a row again. I will probably be dead from stress but as long as they win.

Early in his career, Crosby was similar, the league would ooh and aah about everything and Crosby was a little crybaby. Then he got hammered a few times in playoffs and finally got the idea, and the Penguins did too. When he won the cups, it wasn’t about him, it was about the team, and I no longer hated the whole situation. The team earned it. Crosby was great but it wasn’t just Crosby. Like you said, it’s a team game.

Unlike McJesus and Drai, Barkov and Tkachuk and others already understand the team aspect.

That’s why we’re gonna win again.
