I really dislike that narrative - how so many people seem to think that great players "deserve" a championship: IT'S A TEAM SPORT!!!! Maybe Edmonton is the better team: and if that's the case, then they do deserve the Cup. But to say that a franchise deserves a Cup because they lucked into drafting a generational talent, that just feels insulting to the sport...
I actually like us going into this as underdogs - I think our team plays better when it's the whole world against them and with a chip on their shoulders. And if we're talking about narratives, I really like the narrative of us as the better deeper TEAM that overcomes the one with the the best player in the world.
TBH, I'm so proud that the team managed to make three straight finals - that's just an incredible feat in this day and age. I honestly think this is a toss-up: we're better than last year but so are the Oilers, and they are a tough match up for us. I just hope it will be an epic and competitive series - just please don't lose three in a row again...
