Im still curious how bennet constantly gets away with the most dumb founded stupidity plays over and over. Like do the refs love him, is he a "veteran player"; whats the narrative for him getting away with constant stupid stuff OVER and OVER
It's the Marchand effect.

Record the game with time for OT. Don't look at any media until you've watched the game.
Bluetooth earbud and stream the game on my phone… finish up work with enough time to catch the 3rd period. I’m impatient lol and would get updates from coworkers or friends I’m sure.

I will always step in to correct this.

The rule at the time was that Hull could be in the crease because he was in possession of the puck, having kicked it to his blade prior to moving into the crease. That rule was put into place in March of that season. This was confirmed by the Sabres after the fact.

I agree with all the other stuff you said, and would add that the Hull situation never had to be a controversy, because the crease replay rule was as stupid as offside replay.

Hate the argument that the crease rule was "stupid" so there should be no controversy. I agree it was dumb...BUT IT WAS A RULE AT THE TIME.

And lots of goals were taken off the board during the regular season for exactly the same thing that Hull did.

Ever since that happened I've watched way too many fans, as well the NHL front office, try to "magic bullet" their justification for something that was a goal that comes back during the regular season.

You're right, those have a totally equivalent effect on the outcome  a player who is offside by a tiny fraction of an inch hasn't gained any advantage worth legislating.
A rules a rule? What else do you want. I can 100% guarantee, if this was against your team you'd want it called fairly.

4 shots nearly halfway through the game. I recall Panthers fans mocking the Bruins for doing the exact same 🤭

The zone entry they weren’t entitled to is a massive advantage
