I'm going to say it again.

They didn't have the desire to go to Vancouver for a 5th game. (2012)
They didn't have the desire to go to Phoenix for a 5th game. (2012)
They didn't have the desire to go to New Jersey for a 5th game. (2012)
They didn't have the desire to go to Chicago for a 7th game. (2014)

For all we that we gush over this team (and believe me, there is plenty to gush over), one thing they don't do very well is close teams out. Their record in close out games is not commensurate with their otherwise outstanding record in the playoffs in the past three seasons:

2012: 4-4 (other games, 12-0) (lol)
2013: 2-1 (other games, 7-8)
2014: 3-3 (so far) (other games, 12-7)

So, from their total playoff record over the past three seasons of 40-23 (.635), they are 9-8 in close out games (.529) and 31-15 otherwise (.674).
The "they cant close teams out" is a weak argument.

The Kings win three straight games and then you essentially blame them that they dont win the fourth....

It's evident they have trouble closing teams out. Even they say (repeatedly) that the 4th win is the hardest to get.

Now, if we are talking about St. Louis...they are 2-0 in close out games against St. Louis.

Feel better?

That 4th win feels like the hardest because you have to win two straight.

I'm still not feeling well.

I'm sorry guys... I just learned some terrible news.

Apparently you need to win 4 games to win the series. :( I was unaware of this. Rangers fans be so smart and knowledgeable about the game.

We should all be grateful to them. After 25 years as a Kings fan. I hadn't figured that out.
I am really surprised that any problems exist in the world that Ranger fans haven't solved yet.

I'm happy and content and feel safe to live in a world of Ranger fans. Whenever I get scared that life is throwing me a bit too much to deal with, I look to them for guidance and comfort.

Thankfully they have taught me the way of the Stanley Cup Final...and here I was celebrating madly out of sheer ignorance Monday night.

Silly me.

Wish I had your confidence.

My feeling is the Kings are definitely superior to the Rangers. Having said that, I just find a 15-10 record in the playoffs substandard. I'm not used to such mediocrity.* The Kings of 2012 spoiled me rotten.

*I know, I know...I know. I have followed this team when I wished we were as GOOD as MEDIOCRITY.

Mediocrity??? You do realize that they beat not one, not two, but three teams that could easily have been playing in this series. When you consider the quality of the competition the mediocrity tag is ridiculous.

Maybe a poor choice of words for this playoff season.

The term was meant to mostly point in the past direction for the Kings, for which fans of the team are all too familiar.
