Say something nice about your favourite team's opponent

I really like Winnipeg’s fanbase and the atmosphere at their games. I remember watching the last playoff game when they were eliminated knowing the team was moving to Arizona.

I want my team to win this series, but if a division rival ends up going deep in the playoffs I’d be glad if it’s Winnipeg.

That's not the real Dunedin, I was born in the real Dunedin.

My mother-in-law lives in the “fake” Dunedin. Whenever we go visit her, I sometimes joke that we’re going to New Zealand.

As for something nice about the opponent… well, I’ve always thought that Brad Marchand is kind of cute.

One reaction is not enough for this post, especially the lack of disgust react...

I feel like thats all Ive been doing. Dallas is soooooo good and Robertson/Heiskanen are out. Like wtf.

Ill be cheering for Mikko if they win.

Sanderson and Chabot can anchor a blueline for the next 15 years. And Giroux is a gem of a player to have around a young core.

Most teams would happily take Ullmark with his pricetag. I believe in the guy, in spite of the silly playoff "not a big game player" narrative.
They are great defenseman but Chabot is already 28, unless he's the next Chris Chelios he isn't anchoring anything for the next 15 years.

Agree on Giroux, never thought about him for his entire career and now I hate him, that means he's good.

I'm a cat person. I have 2 (a mother and daughter). They forgive me for being a Lightning fan.
Well, being a dedicated cat lady is one of the reasons why a British girl decided to support the Cats as her hockey team ;). It's so much fun to shout "Go Cats", or "Cats scratch and claw their way to...", or "Cats are cooking". Or the best: "Cats in 4" :D...

I mean, who wants to see cats struck by lightning - you'd have to have a heart of stone...

I've never really minded the Panthers, which dates to long before I became a Tampa Bay Lightning fan (in addition to being a Utah/Arizona fan) because I married a Bolts fan. While it is a fun rivalry, I take it more as a sibling rivalry since they're an in-state rival. You love to beat the crap out of each other, but kind of wish them well when you're not playing each other. I've seen plenty of both Bolts and Panthers fans who feel the same way (though I have also seen plenty of fans who would probably be pretty happy if the other Florida team went 0-82 and lost the draft lottery too). I was happy for them when they won the cup last year.

However, the only in-state rivalry I had growing up for myself was the rivalry between Arizona State University and the University of Arizona. I would be happy if U of A never won a single game in anything, but if their football team does manage to make it to a bowl game, I want them to win it, because ASU has always been in the same conference as them, and I like it when the conference (Pac-10/12 or Big 12) wins its bowl games in order to make the conference look good. ASU getting their hockey team promoted to NCAA D1 has been a weird experience because none of ASU's traditional rivals in college sports have a hockey team, and none of the D1 hockey schools are really relevant to my college sports fandom. I don't know who I'm supposed to hate!

TBH, the standard of attractiveness for hockey players is not high - we have to grade on a curve here...

That said @Summer Rose - how could you pick Marchand over our sweet wonderful gorgeous Sasha??!! [deep sigh] He's so pretty: those eyes, that shy smile...

The NHL player with the most gorgeous eyes in the league is Darcy Kuemper in my opinion, but the Bolts aren't playing the Kings right now. :P

Their strategy of shooting pucks at Adin Hill is masterful.

(jokes aside I like a lot of their players including Flower, Boldy, Kap, Rossi, and Buium and they're in the slot of playoff teams I'd be happy for over other repeat winners and teams I just generally hate)
