At the very least, Nashville would have to retain 50% until 2031, and take nothing/a bad contract back. Since that's not happening, he will learn to enjoy being on a team with a core older than he is on average.

For all that Skjei hasn't lived up to billing with the Preds... this dumpster-fire version of the Preds mind you... I can't see the team trading him at anything like negative value. As in, no retention, no "sweeteners" to move him, etc.

He's ok as #3 sort of guy, and probably it won't take long with the rising Cap for $7M to be the going rate for that level of player.

Plus the Preds have absolutely no depth whatsoever on D. And with the spectre of Josi potentially being gone at any moment due to his concussion history, the Preds won't firesale Skjei, even if he is underwhelming, just due to a sheer lack of alternatives. He can skate 20+ minutes a night at a respectable #3 level, which is more than can be said for anybody else on the team atm. And for some reason I don't expect the Cap is going to be a big problem for the Preds for the forseeable future, soooo... we'll still keep him. Even while being underwhelmed. :help:
