Sarnia Sting 2024 25 Season Thread Part Iii

I wonder what position we will draft at the import, have to assume defence. We are going to have a few good players to trade and we will probably have to take pics in return because we will have too many top 9 forwards.
I honestly don't know what they are gonna do. This NCAA agreement adds a lot more depth to teams, but I agree D makes the most sense at 11th pick. probably get 2nd or 3rd best D.

right now our lineup looks like

Brown-Beamish-Karimov
Kostuch-Edwards-Manza
Luecke-DI Iorio-Lammens
Simpson-???-???

Chamberlain, Gaughan, Jaworksi, Denes probably our 4 closest prospects.

Then you have Kamzik, Sinclair & Walos as NCAA kids. I cant see them signing all 3.

IMO you sign Kamzik if he'll push his commitment back a year. Would like his size added to the lineup. Sign Sinclair if hes willing to be L4, but not sure he would. Let Walos go back to BCHL. Send Jaworski to JR B like LDN always does. Denes/Chamberlain/Gaughan fight for final spot/13th F.

On D

Fischer-Young
Hurt-O'Brien
Aucoin-??

Bridgewater, Barr, Andersen, Garrett, Romain fighting for a spot.

So there's a spot for a high end import D. Could play T4, push O'Brien to 3rd pair with Aucoin. Then that defence looks really nice. + If hes legit he helps replace Fischer, Young leaving next yr.

No clue what you do with the 3rd import pick. I guess BPA, but we are pretty filled if it goes how I just laid it out.

Good problems to have, but there will be some awfully tough decisions for Seca and co.

The 2025 CHL Import Draft will expand to three rounds for the first time, reflecting a new policy that allows CHL clubs to carry up to three import players on their rosters

I agree tough decisions and a lot of them, definitely a few trades coming and hopefully they can get decent picks in return, hopefully they can keep some of the younger guys and send them to junior b for a year, they need to capitalize on that it’s more beneficial compared to having guys play 4th line for 30 games a year having guy

Luecke will be fighting for a roster spot if you ask me.... Same with Manza if it was up to me ... Manza is a guy who is probably not going to be around next year and to take a roster spot he's gonna need to stand out.... Im not just saying this because im a sting fan but we've gotta be the most intriguing team in the league... I feel like every guy we don't really know what we're gonna get... my biggest question is who's going to score goals? - besides Edwards - our next leading goal scorer coming back had 16 goals ... if we wanna compete were going to need many guys at a ppg or more clip. Im looking specifically at Brown it's put up or shut up for him.

Agreed! It's a young team again but really promising if things go right.

Yah Luecke I'm higher on than most. I just like his package of size, speed & physicality/take no sh*t attitude. But he needs to take a step if he wants to stay especially because he's 18 now.

Manza I like. I thought he showed good things but like Karimov got buried in Letang dog house. He is a bit soft so I see why some don't like him. But your point makes sense. If he says he's sticking with leaving for 26-27 then I'd cut ties unless he's taken a good step. Rather give Kamzik/Sinclair his spot assuming they delay going.

Totally agree. I think Di Iorio is gonna take a pretty big step. He has an amazing shot & it took him awhile to find it. I could see him scoring 25+. Brown I'm high on & expect a big jump. If not that'll hurt the team a lot. Full yr of Beamish will be nice. He should score 20-25. If Karimov is actually given ice time I think he has 30G upside, but who knows how Letang thinks.

Kostuch can't put any expectations on. If he was 100% I'd say 25-30, but can't expect that. If Sinclair or Kamzik could come in & score 15ish that would be great.

Fischer, Young really contributed last yr and I expect that to continue & even get better. Maybe if they take an import D at 11 he has some offensive flare too.

See the pathway for them being a pretty good scoring team, but as you said nothing is a lock which is exciting but also worrisome.

Thing is with luecke he has the size and speed and enough skill to finish a play off, he also is gritty, we can’t keep all these forwards that are skilled and don’t finish a check or provide any grit. Can’t have 4 lines of skilled players that are soft also Letang and Seca don’t want that they want a mix of skill size and speed with a couple players that can bang. Couple of these smaller/soft players will need to go. Guys like lammens luecke and Simpson can be the bigger guys with speed that finish there checks and provide a bit of skill. Kamzik can join that group if he has a good camp.

I'm not trying to argue but I have seen no evidence of Luecke being able to finish off plays lol. Sarnia is now a huge team .. like significantly huge... There are no excuses now.... we're not small and we have skill - possibly 2 first round nhl talents plus brown who is like a 3-4th round talent..... so if that doesn't translate to wins then the house needs to be cleaned...... and when I mean wins I don't mean like a 7th place finish... I mean a 35-38 possibly 40 ish win season being a top 4 seed and winning a round.

To be fair it’s hard to finish off plays when sitting on the bench or playing on the 4th line for 5 minutes a night, when he was moved up the lineup for a few games he looked pretty good and complimented the talented players on the ice well even Seca mentioned it. Also I wouldn’t say we are a huge team, our defence are a good size, our top 8 forwards who play the most minutes…beamish 5’11, brown 5’11, di Iorio 6’1 skinny and not very physical, edwards 6’1 skinny and not very physical, karimov 6’0 can be physical at times, lammens 6’0 looks like he will be physical (but he’s 16), manza 5’10 not physical, kostuch (if he plays) 5’11 not very physical… guys who aren’t signed or are 4th liners Simpson 6’2 physical, luecke 6’2 physical, chamberlain 6’2 didn’t seem very physical, gaughan 6’2 not very physical, kamzik 6’2 sounds like he has bite, Jaworski 5’11, Sinclair 5’10. Most of the bigger players or guys that are physical will be 4th liners play 5-10 minutes a night or won’t be on the team. Forwards who play the most are average size and not very physical. I’d consider Windsor a huge team.

for sure ... maybe I exaggerated a bit... in terms of improving on size from last year is more what I meant.... with the proper coaching/system/more experience some of those guys can bump their weight around a bit.. There is no reason why Brown can't bump guys around he's in year 3 if he wants to be taken seriously as an nhl guy he's gotta be able to hit guys off the puck and not just constantly float around. If ur a floater you'd better be putting up serious points and brown doesn't do that... I also feel like Di Lorio can be more physical this year too. We'll see tho!

Have to give it to the Sting fans. Every spring there is a lot of hopeful positive posts.
Maybe this fall it won't be the typical Letang sucks, refs screwed us, why do the Sting suck kinda year?
I can't tell if this is satire or not lol.

Unlike some on the Windsor board we do try to be positive at times haha. Been a bit more rare lately, but we love falling into the ol' trap of believing in the team so it hurts that much more when they let us down.

Unless Letang really looks himself in the mirror this summer im gonna guess we will still be hard on him to start next season.

The refs are always out to get us, obviously.

Considering the Sting have sucked 6 of the last 7 years it's fair to assume it will be another year of us asking why do we suck again.

I would be very disappointed if size/being pushed around is an issue for this team again. They don't have many truly small players. Sinclair will be the one if he signs at 5'10". Everyone else is 5'11"/6'0" or above.

Simpson is 6'2"
Luecke is 6'2"
Chamberlain is 6'2"
Edwards is 6'1"
Di Iorio is 6'1"
Lammens is 6'1"
Karimov is 6'0"

Brown, Beamish are 5'11", but they play in the gritty areas, around the net etc. Kostuch pre injury was always energetic & not afraid to get in there even tho hes 5'11" too.

If they sign Kamzik he's 6'2"..

On D
Fischer is 6'3"
Aucoin is 6'3"
Young is 6'2"
O'Brien is 6'2"
Hurt is 6'1"
If Barr stays he's 6'1"
Bridgewater the smallest at 5'10"

Add in Simpson, DI Iorio, Edwards, Chamberlain, Aucoin, Lammens could all grow another inch or two. + They all are gonna put in work to add some weight. Can add two imports + an OA if they want too & usually imports aren't very small I find.

I cant see us being soft/pushed around/easy to play against again. If we are it entirely falls on the coach.

Ya I posted it as humor but after rereading it I thought it might be taken the wrong way but the intention was humor. I already deleted the post , worried it would not be taken as I intended.

Your good haha. We can take a joke about our suckage & constant depression about being Sting fans! We are pretty damn used it to by now 😂

Almost every top forwar on this team needs to be harder to play against. Can be as big as you want but if you are soft it doesn’t matter.

I hope we see that going forward. I think Di Iorio and Edwards know they gotta be stronger. Teams targeted them hard and that'll only continue.

Brown going into draft year needs to step it up. Karimov when he was on was a bull so hopefully we see that consistently.

Hopefully Lammens & Kamzik (if signed) can be 2 real additions to the T9. Bigger guys, physical with skill. Even as rookies that would be great to have.

I heard some rumours that the sting will be taking over the concession/boxes from the city with an emphasis on upping the fan experience. I heard they want to continue to invest in the team/arena so thats great news ..... Also for what it's worth Letang is driving around in a new Ford truck... possible a buy out gift from the Finch auto group? lol one can dream

Well the Sinclair stuff is done as fast as it started haha. He signed in the BCHL today. I'm guessing Sarnia told him they are going a different route?

Can't see why he'd say he wants to play here, only accepted a Sting invite then go BCHL 3 days later.

Hopefully that means we are signing Kamzik.

That would be nice. The on ice product hasn't improved much, but give Legwand and co credit they really do try to make it a better environment, arena, organization etc.

Maybe they'll lower the food/drink prices 😂😂. It's gotten absurd.

What 3 improvements with the arena and the gsme day experience would you like to see?

My top 3 for the arena would be 1.) seats! get rid of those ugly maroons seats for new black ones. That would completely change this rink into one of the better average size rinks 2.) improvements to the concourse (try and hide all the plumbing and electrical on the ceiling) and put new lighting in that is sort of hidden so you can’t see it as much when the lights are off during the anthems. It’s just so bright up there when the team comes out and during the anthems it looks kind of funny. Those industrial lights you can see the actual light itself shining right down from your seat. Maybe put a ceiling up in the concourse with recessed pot lights, could help with that and it would make the concourse look nicer when walking around 3.) would be to build a sports bar/restaurant on the outside of the arena that is open 7 days a week and when there is sting games on (home or away) they show the games and have the bar attached to the arena so there will be a door that you can leave the restaurant right into the concourse show security your ticket and go into the game and you can go back to the bar afterwards. Also you can watch away games there and watch any sports game there and enjoy food and drinks any night of the week.
Game day experience 1.) lower prices abit for drinks and food. 2.) better staff to enforce rules mostly on kids and the teenagers jumping from seat to seat etc. 3.) third would be a playoff thing that always kind of bugged me, instead of handing out those dumb noise makers that don’t do much, maybe hand out yellow sting towels to waive around when they score or yellow sting t-shirts so it shows to the other team they are in the beehive!

He's already committed to Bowling Green. Why play in the CHL for 1 year unless you are getting top line minutes? He won't get that here but he will in BC. The vast majority of committed kids are sent to BC to develop. It's an older league now and more focused on skill and the NCAA style game
