Sarnia Sting 2024 25 Season Thread Part Iii

Never seen or heard of the kid before right now, but sign me up for him to be our import pick, haha!

If we are gonna have a giant dcore may as well have some 6'6/6'7 goalie!

There is only three 2008 born goalies in the tournament Felix Timraz-Westin another one is 6’3 Samuel Hrenik from Slovakia he didn’t play the first game so he might be the backup but his numbers in Slovakia are really good. The other 2008 goalie is 5’9 Olivers Freimanis from Norway who is the backup to Timraz-Westin. Timraz-Westin and Hrenik would both be solid options if they are open to coming here. Also Jack Nesbitt and Tyler Hopkins are now joining the Canadian U18 team, Di Iorio could lose a lot of minutes and possibly be a healthy scratch or made an alternate now.

Di Iorio and Edwards are the only 2008 born Fs to make the team. What a great accomplishment for them. Even if they don't play a ton it'll be great experience and it's a great sign for them moving forward for making Canada at these tournaments.

Seen some "early mocks" and most have Di Iorio as a 1st & Edwards as a late 1st/early 2nd. Hopefully by next year's draft both are sure fire 1st rounders!

'everyone needs to be better but me' surely would be his quote down 0-3.
I honestly think that's what bothered me the most this season.

I'm sure at some point it was said, but I honestly can't remember Letang or Jeffries saying "that's on me/us, it's on me as a coach" etc.

Especially when it came to the really poor stretches & their atrocious special teams.

Perfect example is when Moses & I wanna say Filak said after a game that their practice had really dipped/fallen off compared to what it was in January.

Sure the players deserve blame, but that's on the staff. How the hell does the practice fall off late in the year in a playoff race?

I've seen more energy from a corpse than Letang so im not surprised intensity in practice went down hill. No doubt that was Filak taking a shot at Letang when he said that. I know it's a long ways away but im anxious to see the first 10-20 ish games of next year... I wonder what would happen if the team comes out flat which honestly I can see happening... Interesting we didn't draft Legwands kid.. I dont think he was drafted at all.

He isn't good enough sadly. David takes me as someone who'd want him to earn it and he didn't.

Wonder what the holdup is with announcing the ownership shift. Figured be announced by now. Maybe around rookie camp (may 29 / 30)

In Iowa last week, took in some Waterloo games - kosiba healthy scratched, bogas held his own, but don’t think there’s a chance he comes (his dad went to Michigan state)

His numbers aren’t impressive at all, he’s average size at best probably abit undersized. No point in bringing him over for one year to take minutes away from players who have a higher ceiling. This team seems to want to get bigger he won’t help with that. One thing about Bosa is he can come here for a couple years and then jump back over to Michigan state.

lol so looks like my Kosiba analysis was dead wrong. I still think he should come for training camp just to see.. maybe a change of pace is what he needs... I don't know.... but being a healthy scratch isn't good.

He would need a release from Waterloo to attend our training camp, I don’t think I would bother with him, we have 1 slot in our top 9 open, Luecke could fill that spot, they could possibly draft another import forward to fill that spot, or get another guy to to report to fill that need. I think Luecke would be fine, he has decent speed , has size and bite, and showed flashes of skill when he played with other skilled players this year, could be a power forward to play with more skilled players. Be physical and create space for the more skilled players and have enough skill and speed to play alongside them. He will also be 18 this coming year so it’s time for him to take on a bigger role and if he can’t then you either park him on the 4th line or trade him out.

good points ... ur right we don't have room/ a need for him at this point.

Kamzik could be a guy fighting for a T9 spot too if he signs.

Still wouldn't rule out them trying to sign Chase Jette who's also at Waterloo or Easton Walos who's in the BCHL.

Seca very clearly had a player or two in mind IMO when he said they have guys that wanna sign.

Still wondering about Quinlan too. Starting for the USA at the U18s. Stats haven't been great but the kid consistently is USAs starter at these tournaments.

LDN absolutely beating the brakes off of KIT ....no doubt KIT is probably a bit tired but man the only thing stopping this LDN team is a few bad bounces in the Memorial Cup finals. I said they would go 16-2 at the start but 16-0 isn't out of the question.

Di Iorio showing out at the U18s today! 1G (shorthanded) & 1 assist!

Daily faceoff listed him as one of their standouts and were very complimentary of him

I really feel like he's gonna be a kid that just climbs and climbs the rankings next year. He's plays such a pro style game for a 16 yr old.

I think Oshawa wins the east and I could see them fighting a bit.

But ultimately it'll be the same result as last yr. Way to good.

Kamzik would be perfect to round out the top 9, I do think Luecke could have a heck of a year being a power forward/ energy guy on a top 9 line. Simpson, chamberlain and Luecke would be a fast and good sized 4th line tho.

I'm a Luecke believer. No Im not wearing yellow enough tinted glasses to think he's a stud, or will pop off for 20-25 goals, but I saw a kid really figuring it out in 2025 before he got hurt

He's 6'2", he skates well, he actually has solid hands, he's very physical & is fearless driving the net, going down low etc. he also backs down to nobody. He fought some monsters this yr as a 17 yr old. He was always chirping with guys like Boulton, McCue, Andonovski etc.

I think the Sting saw it too when they pushed him up the line up with Brown & Beamish. Unfortunately he got hurt I wanna see his 2nd game with them which absolutely sucked, but he was really starting to figure it out at that point.

If he can build off that & have a good summer I really think he could carve out a really solid role on this team as a guy who can move up & down the lineup & play some special teams.

In a way it's why I'd prefer if we didn't bring in more Fs. Give him & Simpson who I like quite a lot a legit shot in the Top 9. But how can u be mad at adding more talent & depth to your team especially after Wainwright left.

Id say they have

Brown/Beamish/Karimov/Edwards
Di Iorio/Manza/Lammens & Kostuch (he's back training btw which is great!) if he's back & somewhat close to form as locks in the top-9. Leaves 1 spots

Luecke & Simpson I'd be pretty surprised if they weren't among the 12 regulars. Kamzik too if he signs.

That's 11Fs. Leaves one spot for Gaughan, Chamberlain, Jaworski. The fact Chamberlain stayed up all yr gives him a pretty big advantage/lead for the spot I'd say.

I really like the versatility they could have in that lineup compared to this season. Adding Simpson, Lammens, Kamzik* adds a ton of much needed size to the wing.

Man, how did I not know Jette was a sting pick….. he was fantastic in the games I was at, not obvious outstanding trait (but wasn’t focusing on him) he had points in all 3 games was at, always in the right spot and involved in the offensive end
