Oh, I wouldn't even think about it if I were the team. He isn't good enough. Started well & had me optimistic, but his foot speed is bad, his puck movement has gotten worse & for a guy who's big & said he loves being physical he has not shown that whatsoever. I think the last good hit he threw was vs the Soo back in the opening weeks of the season..If I was sarnia I would consider letting Bodin walk in the off season and drafting a 18 year old goalie in the import draft. Someone that you know will be solid and will for sure come.
The wildcard is if Patrick Quinlin (G) comes to the Sting next year. They may also draft a goalie high in the U16 Draft. Good to have depth at all positions.Oh, I wouldn't even think about it if I were the team. He isn't good enough. Add in they bring back Fischer/Young/O'Brien/Hurt/Bridgewater/Barr + have Andersen kicking around + Neusteter/Garret are guys they think have good potential that might push for a spot & whoever they take in April. It would frankly be idiotic to bring him back.
I'd totally be on board for taking a goalie. I think Maillet has shown he's a fine/solid goalie, but if they wanna be a team that competes for home ice next yr he likely isn't the guy you turn to for 45-50 starts. Still hoping Grovestine or Osipenko become something, but even if they do then it becomes a luxury & u could flip Maillet & run with one of them + import.
Makes even more sense when you look at how many D are returning like I said + up front there isn't a ton of room either.
Brown-Beamish-Karimov
Wainwright-Di Iorio-Manza*
Luecke-Edwards-Kostuch**??
Simpson-Chamberlain
Gaughan/Hall/any prospects from '24 draft + whoever they take in the coming draft + if they sign any BCHL/USHL kids.
Seems pretty obvious to me honestly if there's a couple good U18 Gs available.

I think young and wainwright come back, they get lots of playing time and have been treated great and had decent personal success (mostly young). Manza and karimov are the two I’m worried about, have to play both down the stretch, and Seca will have to get a new good coach and promise them more minutes next season. Hopefully they can sell it to them and they come back. No way Karimov plays in the KHL next season. MHL or VHL. Maybe at best 2-3 games in the KHL. He will be a late NHL draft pick and didn’t develope at all and didn’t play much this season and his confidence probably isn’t too high either.Would doubt highly Young and Wainwright come back, not both of them and risk injury and turn down NCAA offer. Also manza commited for next season in Ohio hard to see him drinking the koolaid and buying into the lies? Especially after this year.
Still does karimov come back? Or play in KHL? few peices could affect next years team. Might be rebuild again if kostuch doesn't come back, we are still uncertain he comes back at this level. We could see next year being the same as this year with Letangs's lack of development, jefferies pp just to mention on going issues, while seeing fischer dealt early in season as he will demand out!
Just throwing thoughts out there.
Don't think next year is anything like normal alot more moving peices. Players have options we can't just expect things to fall into place.
Karimov getting drafted would be really big for the Sting for keeping him. An NHL team would rather him play in the OHL than go back to the MHL/VHL and get all the bad habits he's just getting out back.I think young and wainwright come back, they get lots of playing time and have been treated great and had decent personal success (mostly young). Maybe a dumb question from me but is there really a chance Karimov will be drafted? Is he even ranked?Karimov getting drafted would be really big for the Sting for keeping him. Manza is not physically ready for NCAA Hockey. His advisors would be smart to tell him that & im sure he's well aware too. He needs a couple years to add muscle, size before taking that jump to play against teams filled with 20/21/22/23 year olds.
I'd lean both are back, but be lying if Letang's usage of them doesn't have me worried.
There's been 1 guy who's commited as a 19 yr old. I like Wainwright but he has not had an OHL career that'll have NCAA schools lining up to sign him early. Young definitely could, but he plays 25 mins a night here, PP/PK etc. College he'll be 3rd pair no PP/PK.
Both would be smarter to do what Docuette / Filak are doing. Comeback as OAs get played a crap ton, get more interest maybe even from NHL/AHL teams then decide what route to take.
He was ranked higher to start the yr. Then has been listed on the central scouting lists as 5-7 (I think)Maybe a dumb question from me but is there really a chance Karimov will be drafted? Is he even ranked?
I just don’t see why they wouldn’t play their OA year in the OHL and then sign with an NCAA team the year after like Doucette and filak are doing. Young might even get signed to an NHL team as a free agent. I am worried about karimov and manza though, mostly manza. But I think a different coaching staff could change his mind, have to remember he’s producing just as much offensively at a higher level than he was in the BCHL. Hes also in his first 20 games as an OHL player. He still has lots to learn.Disagree, going to be a hard sell to both Wainwright and young, karimov and manza, just dont think next years team going to compete for anything so what's point in staying. Seriously organization isn't trending up at all. As much as I want them to stay and hope things will be different next year they just won't, not in a good spot after 4 years of Letang! Development at an all time low Defense has been regressing steady Bodin came in with alot of promise to have Letang ruin him. Isn't much role player teaching going on.
Not like London all players know their roles and play them to a tee.
Idk he was ranked a late 1st or 2nd round pick at the start of the year, and he’s fell back to “maybe” getting drafted, maybe organizations look at Letang and sarnia and say to themselves “what the hell did you do with this kid all year”. Could lead to them wanting him to go back to Russia or making the sting trade him or having him go to NCAA.He was ranked higher to start the yr. Then has been listed on the central scouting lists as 5-7 (I think)
OK thanks, surprised me but to be fair I haven't seen him enough. He was ranked higher to start the yr. Then has been listed on the central scouting lists as 5-7 (I think)
