sting should see if they can try and get leamington flyers (OJHL) coaching staff to swing over right when the season ends. The head coach and two assistants have been together for 4 years and have had success. Both in the GOJHL and OJHL. Good opportunity to move up to the OHL to coach and stick together, and if they did it right at the seasons end, they could get on page with Seca and Legwand and get a plan together with sting organization. Also the coaches aren’t too far away. Just an option.

I'm totally torn on what I want them to do with Wainwright & Young honestly..

I see both sides. You wanna maximize how many picks & assets we have for 2026-2027 so we don't have to do what we did 2 years ago & trade 4 good - great young players.. You could move Edwards back to C. Barr & Bridgewater would both be in routinely. But I go back to what @davewheeler said a couple weeks ago that do you really wanna sell season after season? What does that do to all our young players & the fans..?

If you deal those 2 now this team will be starved of veteran leadership next season. You'd be subtracting Filak/Doucette/Surzycia/Wainwright/Young.. They have 3 OAs penciled in for next yr in O'Brien, Wainwright, Young. If you deal 2 of them their veteran core/leadership would be Fischer & O'Brien & that's it... No other OAs as Moses, Johnston, Francechetti aren't OA level. Other than Fischer their current 18s turning 19s are Omeri, Hall, Maillet, Bodin.. First two likely aren't here. Maillet backup goalie. Bodin been dreadful.

They'd have 2 (!) legit veterans who are good. one being their captain who we agree should be dealt next TDL.. No veteran F let alone a good veteran F to help out all these U18 Fs. The team would be bottom of the league for age for the 3rd straight season & they'd have no veterans to eat some of the hard minutes for all these young guys. They'd be taking a beating.

Our lineup next year if we dealt both now would be something like -

Brown-Beamish-Karimov
*Kostuch*-Di Iorio-???
???-Edwards-2025 1st RD pick
Luecke-Chamberlain-Simpson?

Fischer-Barr
Hurt-O'Brien
Bridgewater-Bodin
Andersen

Maillet
???

We sure we wanna watch that? That roster has some fun talent, but my god it lacks good, reliable vets which is what you need in this league & that's with Karimov sticking it out & Kostuch being able to return & play.. Wainwright should be an over point per game OA F & Young is on pace for 55 point season so could he be a 65+ point Dman as an OA? I think so. Both play in every situation & eat a lot of minutes & both have the makeup of guys who will improve.

After really thinking it over I'd rather keep them. I don't want to go back to Sarnia being a basement dweller year after year. All that losing could make guys want out or hurt their confidence & what a way to tank their drastically improved attendance the last 2.5 seasons.

Don't get me wrong if they decide to do it I wont be mad (as long as they get a proper return), but I'd rather wait. They'll have really solid value as OAs too. No, not as good as now, but all these young guys need some veterans to look up to/watch & to eat some of the hard minutes they aren't physically prepared to handle over a full season.

Ya I get what you are saying but if they don’t trade them this year I would do it next year. Reason is sarnia needs those extra picks to bring in good players from other teams, we aren’t like London where we can draft good and develope our own picks. 90% of the time we make our picks worse. So at some point we do need extra picks to bring in good players from other teams .

Bob Boughner was relieved of his duties in Detroit today. I'm not saying he'd be available or even remotely interested in coming to Sarnia, but I am saying that'd be awesome.
Definitely be an awesome replacement for Letang, he’s pretty local too. But Letang would have to offer him some serious money to take over or maybe make a pitch to him that he can be head coach and part owner.

Took a peak at the Stings directory board just to see if anything had changed....

Under coaches it says

Head coach - Alan Letang

Assistant coach - Dustin Jeffrey

Assistant coach & player development - Ayden Letang (Alan's son who's 23)

For the love of freakin' god that better just be there because he was on the bench for the final 2 games before the break....

If this organization legitimately promoted Letang's son to assistant coach when he retired from hockey 2 years ago I might be done.

It's a joke as is his son is employed by the team under player development when he's 23 & just retired from Jr C hockey.. if they did this it would be an utter embarrassment & tell you this organization has gone backwards even worse off the ice than on it.

Better see them hire an assistant & soon.

I had no idea that Dustin Jeffrey was back in the league. Good for him, I loved him with the Greyhounds.

Well Dave Cameron is gonna make people forget about Letang real quick LOL.

What an embarrassment. Lose to Latvia. No Sennecke Misa Cristall Parekh is utter idiocy. Martone didn't get a shift in the 3rd or OT then thrown out in the shootout??? Wtf is that.

Looks good on them frankly.

Not taking Parekh is entirely justified and defense wasn't really an issue. Bonk, Dickinson, and Gibson were all very good.

Up front there are a lot of questions to be answered. They really could have used the skill of the guys you mentioned on the powerplay and in the shootout.

Yah I'm not overly upset about Parekh. Not great defensively. Not sure he's super well liked by others. But least he has elite talent and skill. Something they lack.

As always they fell in love with size grit over skill/talent. It's idiotic.

Team Canada looks like a bunch of big idiots with no skill out there .... I see a team trying to fit a square into a circle.. also why was Martone in the shootout after only playing 7 mins the entire game.... Baffling. Team Canada management needs to take a good hard look in the mirror because each year they leave off 3-4 unbelievably skilled guys. I dont care it it is the hunters running the ship they are running it into the ground..... we will see how the rest of they tourney shakes out.

Rehkopf still in the stands...

They don't even have size. One of the smaller teams at the tournament.

I’d definitely bring parekh as a 7th defenceman and just use him for the powerplays, nobody on their defence has the skill he has.
