Ncaa CHL agreement is official. Big day for Jr hockey. Exciting but also scary at the same time. Should lead to more 16/17 yr old kids staying/coming to the CHL. USHL is taking a major hit.

But in a league where the older teams usually are the best & usually win how many 19/20 yr old kids will leave for the NCAA?

For us as @stingwagoner has said, Wainwright & Young are 2 guys who project as great OAs next year. Will one or both get NCAA interest & wanna leave for it? If they did that would hurt the team drastically in a yr where they may compete.

Hoping players get options to stay as OAs keep playing in best league rather than jump to NCAA, but I do see some OAs taking opportunity to start schooling in best league for that. If either one gets drafted that could affect what they do next year.
Very interesting as look for some players commited to come to CHL as well.

Edwards gets 1 assist in a team Canada white win. Advance to the semi's along with Di Iorio & Canada red. Might be playing each other tomorrow, but not sure on that.

No suspension listed today, but sometimes they take 2 days to announce any. I'd frankly be surprised if he got any games. Confidence level is real low for both games this weekend. Just want this damn trip to be over & for us to get back 9/13/17/81.

Utter insanity. This road trip is becoming the single dumbest couple weeks of the last few years.

They are down their 5 best Cs & top 2D during an 8 game road trip where 7 of the 8 come vs elite teams.

Like come the F*ck on.

Already figured they'd lose the next 3 rather handily & now without Wainwright it's damn near unwatchable

Kitchener starting Goalie Jackson Parsons has signed an NCAA deal. And there's your first domino. With all are injuries and etc I wonder if we lose someone to NCAA now. Wouldn't be surprising this is Sarnia after all LOL.

To me it reads like Parsons deal is for next season, not this one. Since he’s an OA this year it’s no change as far as OHL career is concerned.

Gonna miss both games this weekend for the U17s Semi-finals & gold medal game. I'll genuinely be surprised if either game is kept within 3-4 goals with all that they are missing vs two elite teams.

Seemingly can't catch a break in this god for saken month lol. Just hope to see some guys get going offensively. Brown, Kostuch in particular. Feel for our goalies cause this won't be pretty.

Wainwright gets 3 games for that non penalty? Zero history of anything at all never been suspended and this is throwing the book at him cause leonard got hurt. Total travesty cant believe DS is OK with even 1 more game. There was nothing there in any replay I'd say leonard lost his balance battling with wainwright who was stronger. Going to be hard to watch over the weekend and barring a stand on head from our goalies games we will be in tough. Can't see us getting any points til saginaw game at earliest. Just becoming a throw the book at clean players type of league. Disappointed to say the least think league totally got it wrong here.

Work cut out for buzz to say the least, Wake me up when it's December already.

The new arrangement doesn't officially start till next season .

Parsons deal is for 2025.

Kids that are now signing in the O are commited to NCAA next season and beyond

Sometimes it truly feels like the hockey gods absolutely hate you. These past few weeks have felt that way for this team.

They cannot catch a goddamn break. I didn't see the first 40, but they outshot them by 6or7 after 2 & they played an unbelievable 3rd period. So many great chances & somehow didn't score then a face off cluster results in GWG.

So unbelievably maddening because they deserved so much better. Down all these bodies vs the top team in the east. 2nd time vs them they outplayed them & lost late. I feel for them.

Edit: he had used the TO. Lol.

Just super frustrating as this team could easily have 5-6-7 more points. But when your this young this does happen. Just feel tonight was avoidable by the coaches.

Still super nice & encouraging to see them battle this hard vs a contender. Both games vs Niagara they outplayed them & that's damn impressive.

Tomorrow won't be a pretty one. Erie is a real good team coming off an ugly L. Then LDN is gonna be a slaughter lol.

Man shoutout Filak. 1G/1A tonight & went 25-17 in the face-off circle. 42 draws taken. Insane. Honestly wonder where that ranks in the OHL over the years in a regular season game. He's been asked an absolute ton lately & has stepped up. Doucette also 1G/1A. He's been a lot better lately.

Also Sim had his best game of the yr by far tonight. I so fricken badly wish that kid grew to even 5'9". He has legit skills. Great pass on the Doucette goal. Wouldn't hate seeing him on PP2 with so many guys out. Just so limited with being so small.

On the other side its been a rough couple games for the Hurt-Barr pairing. 2 guys im a big fan of but they've definitely been getting exposed having to face other teams top guys so much. Barr in particular has struggled. His lack of top end foot speed has been noticeable. Still super high on both. But definitely being reminded they are only 17.

Was at the U17 semi tonight so I didn't get a chance to watch so here's some quick box score thoughts. I'm impressed with the effort from the group with all the bodies that they were down. I said they needed to address team defence and discipline after last game and they did. 4 PIMs and 30 shots against. The veterans of the team stepped up. Filak looks he had a ridiculous night 1G/1A/+1 and 27/42 (!) on draws. That's got to be some kind of record. Doucette had 1G/1A and Young got 2A and was +2.

I saw the comments on the timeout from Letang and I get the annoyance of not having it at the end of the game with a tired group but I feel like we'd also be complaining if he didn't take the timeout on the 5v3 and then they didn't score the rest of the way. He probably thought that was going to be their best chance to tie the game with a shorthanded group. Hindsight is 20/20

Impressed with the resolve of the group. They are still the Sting though so they had to lose in the most painful way possible on a goal by a kid from London (of course lol) assisted by Doherty. Being a Sting fan isn't for the faint of heart

Team surprised the heck out of me vs NIA, but I remain very low on confidence @ Erie tonight. I like this Otters team a lot. Bunch of really good established talent & I'm not sure there will be a bigger mismatch down the middle in an OHL game this yr then Fimis/Misiak/Terrance vs Filak/Kostuch/Gaughan.

If Karimov really cant travel over there it's just another guy to add to the scratches that grow game by game. It's truly beyond ridiculous at this point.

Brightside? Last game without Di Iorio & Edwards. Bodin hopefully is back next weekend. Fischer should be getting close (probably 2-3 more weeks depending on how he's healing).. Only 2 games left after tonight on this road trip & they haven't really fallen in the standings as SSM has lost a few in a row, SAG been losing & FLT been losing.

Yah it's tough. Especially with such an undermanned group they probably felt that was a massive moment in the game to get a big goal. I don't hate the decision as like us, I bet Letang thought if they didn't score there the odds it was tied late weren't great.

When it rains it pours so naturally it was tied, they got hemmed in & they iced it with no C on the ice. Perfect recipe for a goal off the draw. Even more painful is Barr actually could've grabbed it but it bounced right off his skate to Doherty. Been quite the rut of sh*t luck. Hopefully we are due for a nice string of good health & good luck after this trip & into the 2nd half.
