Gotta say I'm starting to see some real Ethan Ritchie to Mitch Young's game. Been a comparison I've been thinking of for a while, but these recent weeks have really solidified it for me.

Ritchie was more of an offensive, puck moving type at 16/17 that had some things to work on defensively but wasn't being given a great opportunity by KGN, Sarnia scoops him up for dirt cheap & he becomes a quality top-4 D at 19 then his OA yr he went up another level & was an absolute stud who stepped up massively when Sarnia went thru the annual barrage of injuries on D in November.

Young is so much like that too. Had the offensive tools, but was a bit iffy in his own end at 16/17, OS didn't have room for him so Sarnia scooped him up for cheap & now 2 years later he's a quality top-4 Dman for this team & with Fischer out he has stepped up massively on the top pair. 2G/11A for 13 points has him ranked 7th in D scoring.

Like Ritchie he's still showing that offensive side, but his defensive game has come a long, long way. He's blocking shots, laying big hits, being responsible (for the most part lol) & has become someone you trust out there.

Ritchie at 19 put it all together & figured out just how good he can be in this league & I think Young is starting to do that too which is great to see & it's another example of Seca betting on a kid's upside for dirt cheap & it working out great for this team.

Young more like Christian Kyrou at this point but I do see some Ritchie to his game as well. Especially when ritchie 1st came up he was a disaster turnover machine always caught trying to dangle and be fancy etc.
But to be honest young is caring more about moving puck up rather than lead rush last 2 games, that will make him a better player if he continues to trust his teammates.
Just needs more team 1st mentality which is slowly coming.

Seeing more & more kids leaving the USHL for the CHL with the recent CHL/NCAA agreement. Makes me turn my attention to Nicholas Kosiba. Committed to Western Michigan for the 2026-2027 season, but is currently in the USHL for this yr & next.

He has 2G in 9GP, but is being played on the 4th line/13th F. He can't be enjoying that in his draft year. He's a RW which is our weakest position up front. Could easily tell him he'll play T9 if not T6 here.

Would add some help up front now & next yr where I think we could push to compete he could be a boost. Obviously would suck if he stuck with 26-27 for NCAA as we'd lose him for that yr, but would rather get him for 2 seasons then none!

He's in that tough middle ground. Probably to good for Jr B, but also isn't a for sure OHLer. Crappy spot to be in. See if he gets called up at any point or if another team needs a goalie.
Keep him down there developing and playing games, practise with the sting and call up if one of the other goalies gets hurt. Be part of the team next year

Good thought there with NCAA but Could go other way as well and lose young and wainwright 2 huge peices for next year as OAs

Yep. I'd hope they'll do what the kid in the WHL did. Sign during his OA yr so he can finish his CHL career then spend a couple years playing NCAA. Best of both worlds!

Max Grovestine (10th RD) got called up to the OJHL today & stopped 11/12 in relief to get his 1st OJHL win!

Nice to see as I've heard he's been awesome in the league below. Hopefully can show well & stay up.

Di Iorio and Edwards were held off the scoresheet but both their teams picked up wins to start the U17's today
Was at the Canada Finland game. The Oreo looked solid (comparatively), and was getting good deployment (PP, PK etc).

The only true standout player IMO was Landon Dupont who I think was the only 09 on Canada and also not draft eligible until 2027 (!!!!). I don’t watch much WHL but this kid genuinely looks like he could play in the show right now and he is 15. Was also the captain lol.

Was cool seeing some of the high profile scout types all in Sarnia.

The Observer says Bodin is day to day but unlikely to play Wednesday in Owen Sound.

Lukas Fischer, Carson HallL and Dylan Luecke are all week to week but "progressing well"
Heard it's a hip issue for Bodin. Probably a discomfort thing so hopefully he's back for the weekend because Niagara & Erie have some big Fs & we could use his size on the backend.

Real fun game tonight between Canada Red & USA. Canada got up 3-0 before USA roared back. Ending up 6-3 (2 empty netters) for Canada.

Di Iorio had a beauty snipe for a goal. As always made multiple great defensive plays. 2C/PP1/PK for them. Thought he was one of the best players on the ice.

Should be a good battle vs Owen Sound tomorrow. They are a young, feisty team who's played pretty much every team tough including London this past Sunday. If they don't come prepared for a tight game they'll lose one they really need to win with NIA, ER, LDN, SAG the next 4.

Hopefully the top-6 can continue to build chemistry & hopefully after some practice days the PP looks a bit better without 13/17/81. Gonna need Surzycia (assuming he starts) to be good going against George who's arguably the best goalie in the league.

Can you address the rumour that Sarnia is going to trade Fischer to the Gens at the deadline

Going to need 12, 25, 11 to keep playing how they have been playing, 11 37 25 had solid game. 12 is this teams motor, team goes when he goes!
7Gs /13pts in last 11 games. Pretty evident need to surround with more talent and be a fixture on PP1 Really liked 23 12 19 last game. Having 15 back will help the teams confidence too, think Letang playing 17 with 23 wasn't helping 23, but seems to have more getgo to his game over last weekend with 12 than I've seen all season. Let's hope for a solid road game out of mailett as I'm sure he gets game here mid week after Surzycia had back to back last weekend.and most likely gets this coming weekends B2B again.
Let's see what Letang does?

Sting sign Ryder Simpson.
He was having a solid camp before getting an injury before the black & white game. Hadn't played since until recently. Had 2G/1A in 4 games for Cambridge.

Like Chamberlain I like his foundation. Good size, good skating, very physical. Needs to work on his decision making offensive skills to become a good T6 F one day which hopefully he can because it would be nice to have a true power forward.

Speaking of Chamberlain he is now out week-to-week... That makes it 3 of Sarnia's 4 Cs all out. Kostuch is moving to 3C with JJ & Moses. Line 4 is Sim-Gaughan-Simpson..

Chamberlain was playing his best hockey these last couple games too & that's another loss on the PK to go with Fischer, Bodin, Di Iorio, Edwards who were all on it. November just ain't our month lol.

Surzcyia is starting.
