The Sabres need a D-man like Slavin, Spurgeon, Tamev, Vlasic (both the current hawks on and San Jose one whose retired now I think) but one who is in mid 20s with term and can come and play tough match up minutes and bring puck transition abilities without the need for high offensive situations (not a strength in this players game)

Those type of players usually are overvalued and need to be drafted+developed as its hard to acquire.

ASP is a very good prospect but his style and role/usage conflicts with likely better players of similar roles in Byram and Powers.

No from Detroit. If Cozens were a clear 1C level guy, maybe one could discuss. Cozens trends as a middle-6 guy at the moment. We have a couple of guys for those roles in the pipeline (Danielson/Kasper). ASP type guy is needed way more in Detroit.

Just thinking out loud, are there any of those currently in the NHL in their mid 20s? Faber is really one of the few I can think of under 30. Even then most of the guys in that category classify moreso as a 1D that are out there right now (Faber included).

Alex Vlasic as well I'd say

Edvinsson possibly too

Though overall its hard to find those type of players since they wont be made available unless for a big time overpayment

thoughts ?

Wings have 2 blue chip center prospects and a 1C in Larkin. So Cozens is not a need.

They are super thin on defense, and ASP looks like a future superstar in the making. Cozens looks mid two seasons in a row.

Thoughts?

Aside from size, I'm not sure those two have really established themselves as good shutdown guys yet. Seider is probably closer, but he's a bit more of just an all around 1D right now.

Good call, thought he was 30 not 28.
