Is Pederson considered a prospect? If so, please add him. I don't know why it just occurred to me to ask. If he is, I'd honestly put him ahead of Merkley and Dahlen based on his age and AHL production and the fact he's actually had an impact in NHL action.

Went with Gushchin. Dahlen is interesting for many reasons. Can he be successful in a bottom 6 role or his skillset top 6 or bust? He's had some success in the AHL, and I'm sure he's improved in the last two years, so hopefully he can be a solid contributor.

"Dahlen should have been 3rd. This ranking is already screwed up."

Seriously? This statement is what has you guys so up in arms? FFS... Do I need to add "IMO" to every single post or is there a point where we can all agree that if we're posting on a message board that it is of course "IMO". Nothing assholery about that statement. You guys are all way too sensitive about what I wrote. FFS.

The bolded is projection(?) or just a wild assumption? I'm not sure how to classify it but I guess falsely attributing it to me might be best... I don't know how you get that I'm saying anyone is an idiot simply because I disagree on this completely subjective excercise.

You’re not wrong - a large amount is added by the reader. Such is the way with written content; where inflection, tone, and non-verbal cues are lacking. And preachy late-night overwrought internet man-splaining aside - that was how it came off to me when I read it.

Oh, and the last part I added wasn’t really meant to be directed specifically at you, but rather just how the bulk of online discourse feels.

Always add "imo". We all gotta remember this is a community and when things are said on the internet they often get taken out of context or misinterpreted. Hopefully that's the end of that whole thing so we can get back to talkin about who the #5 prospect is based on personal opinion.
That`s why posters should respect other opinions or at least add "imo".
Sorry, I don't agree. It's not like I'm the only one who has posted their take without an an "IMO". I actually add "IMO" quite a bit. This has been blown way too out of proportion and taken up more posts than it's worth.

John Leonard. Less than 65 NHL GP.

Or even barabanov who only has like 20 NHL gp.
Sharks seem to have a number of guys on the edge of prospect or not prospect which makes evaluating the group as a whole deceiving "IMO™". The organization as a whole seems to have an overwhelming majority of Youngers guys that are going to be challenging for NHL spots which is exciting. If a couple or 3 of these late picks (Leonard, Blich, Chem, Chek etc), FA signings or young trade guys (Pedersen, Hill, Barabanov) break thru like many have in the past, the team could be set up nicely despite the cap problems.

I went with Guschin. To me Dahlen is mystery box until he gets to training camp, fingers are crossed he is all that or at least close but he could just be this years Donato where he looks good at times but. I think he has a good chance to be more than Donato but there isn't enough data of playing well in North America.
Understandable, but Gushchin, although he is fun as shit to watch, is almost a mystery box playing in the USHL too, so I went Dahlen as HA is a tougher league than the USHL and is actually playing against men and is more “proven” in that regard.

Will be voting Gushchin next round for sure though. He is obviously extremely talented, we just haven’t gotten to see him against stronger competition.

The team is in trouble even if these guys break through. Its probably 5 years before this team will have a chance to realistically compete.

I went Kniazev here. I have high hopes for him in terms up upside and likelihood of being an NHLer
The locked on Sharks got me hyped for him when he makes the big club. All their comparable numbers are for high end D-men. They seem to think he's going to see NHL time next season.

I think he will be a top 4 dman at the NHL level. He's such a smooth skater and great with breakouts and first pass. I don't know if his ceiling is as high as Merkley's but I feel much more confident in saying he will play and be effective at the NHL level than saying the same for Merkley.

I want the hockey gods to be kind to us and for us to have Ferraro - Merkley // Kniazev - Knyzhov top 4.
