He’s the perfect stop gap goalie in Montreal until one of the younger guys step up. He’s worth far more to the Habs then he is in a trade.

I'm not in the trade him camp, but if you want to trade him, wait and see how the 4 nations cup plays out. If he somehow plays on his head ans get the starting job, his value would be way more than right now.

Trade him and it's a commitment to losing, and Evans, Laine and other future UFAs will want out, kids without long term deals will want out, and young players on long term deals will start asking for trades.
If there were a lot of good goalies that would be true. There might be 15 in the NHL. GM's do not want to pay for goaltenders but I wouldn't give up a good one for less than a 1st + since it is a risk as Habs have no replacement who is NHL ready.
Can't really trade him until they know Dobes can do the job.

I guess I'm trolling. Montembeault isn't that special actually. Just something to look into and better than your starters. He can't follow the play through traffic like a Price could.
Both our goalies are definitely better than Monty.
The issue with both of them is a complete inability to stay healthy. I wouldn’t be surprised if one of them breaks their leg getting out of bed today.
