Another son vs dad poll. Thought it would be fitting as Sam has already played 100+ more games than Paul at this point so, and is just a year younger than when Paul retired..so, who was the better player?
Paul Reinhart was 8th in PPG and points for defenseman in the 80s. Every player except 2 on both lists is in the HHOF..
At his peak he finished 2nd in scoring for defenseman in 1982 behind Coffey. He also has a 4th, 5th and 6th place scoring finish for defenseman under his belt.
He did get a few Norris votes (7th and 12th place) but nothing else.
Sam seems to have had slower start in his career.. but these last 2 seasons he has cemented himself as one of the best goalscorers and two way wingers in the league. He was the runner up for the goalscoring title last year, finished 4th in selke voting, 12th in Hart voting and 14th in points.
He looks to be on track to have a nearly identical year as he is currently 2nd in goals and 16th in points.
Who do you think is the better player? Consider everything from peak to prime.
