Sam Reinhart - can sign an extension in July 2023, he had a career year here in Florida, alongside Lundell and Marchment while feasting on the PP.

Another solid trade by Zito for a mid to late 1st + Levi.

He would be 29 in November 2025 when the new deal would kick in and he's likely after a 7-8 year deal.

If he can produce another similar season to this past one, he could command $7.5 to $8.5 million?
He can play both Center and Wing, has decent defensive metrics and produces both even strength and on the PP.

Do you see us re-signing him and if so, what range does he fall into?

Vote above

Depends on who they get next offseason, hard to say what the situation will be in 2yrs. Guys like pasta and Kane are free agents, not to mention several D

No to Huby at 29 but yes to Rhino?

We will see where we are after this season.

Yeah I think we'll have to see. Harder to evaluate Reinhart because he had a great season mostly on line 3, while his other seasons in a top-line role have been mediocre.

You can look at a guy like Kadri, mostly mediocre seasons before a big season as a lower line guy. He's definitely not being paid like a top-line guy at 7x$7M, even if there's some more age-related factors there and it was reported he had an offer for a higher contract at I think $8-8.5M. Then there's the tier of guys this past season that are just below Reinhart, like Palat, Copp, Trocheck, Strome, etc. that all just signed for $5-6M.

Depends too on if there may be a big jump in salary cap projected for 24/25. If say the projection points to $90M, then add 10% to all those numbers above.

So given all that and assuming Reino continues to do his thing, I could see 6x$7-8M being a fair deal. If cap doesn't move much, closer to $7M. The more years he wants, the lower AAV I'd want to give and vice versa.

Comparing to Huberdeau, Huber was looking for max term while also being older (it's actually Huby at 30 vs. Reino at 29) and he wanted to get paid like a top line-driver when he was a second-line beneficiary and powerplay specialist. I bet they were looking for same contract as Barkov with a NMC, which to me is a hard pass.

If he wants 8yrs at 10.5per then it’s an even bigger No than huby got from us. I doubt he gets a full 8yrs and definitely not 10+. Probably in the 7s per

Either Lundell is taller than 6'1 or Barkov is shorter than 6'3... maybe it's just me but I don't see any significant difference in their heights

There is no 4 or 5 year options because there's no way he accepts anything less than 6 years.
If he plays such that he deserves 6 or 7 years, everyone (other than the opponents) will be happy. If he doesn’t, then he won’t get the contract, at least not here, not while Zito (who the internet hockey warriors think can’t pick coaches at all) calls the shots.

I would not re-sign him for the cash he's going to demand. Reino is a fine complimentary player but this team needs more guys who can finish. I'd take his money and allocate it toward a sniper.

This is how I see it as well. If he wants to come back for 7 mil sure. On the same hand the trade him now people are hilarious. Last year was the same thing.

The knee jerk reaction to his poor season start is funny. Everyone’s calling for his head? Why not just go for Maurice? We’ve seen these players be a first place team. Sure, they had a setback on the roster, but I hardly think Reinhart is to blame for his own questionable performance.
