As good as the Habs are going, starting Monty for all those consecutive games in December is showing now.

Time to start Dobes every 2nd game over the next month. I like Monty, hes been solid overall this season, but until Dobes falters, I dont see why not. If he shows too much fatigue, then start him every 3rd game.

This is how the goaltending position goes in today's game. Its not uncommon for a new backup to surprise and possibly takeover as the #1. If it ends out being a 50-50 split, so be it.

Habs just threw 2 points away last night starting Montembeault. Hopefully Marty learns a lesson from last night.

You always go with the hot hand.
I remember Toe Blake saying years ago he stays with the hot goalie while other goalie works twice as hard in practice to get his game back. He alternated between Gump and Vachon, before him Hodge. Toe won a gazillion cups. All this experience and info is there Marty, use it.

Another buy out.

Dobes should be getting more starts from here on. Theres no reason to roll the dice with a struggling Montembeault night in and night out. He really hasn't been good this year.

Last month: We have to start Montie!
This month: Montie needs to be fired!
The irony. Fact is he has been the Hab's best goalie for the past few years. While he has had some rough outings I still think he is a solid goalie. I wish he wasn't part of the 4 Nation tournament and was able to relax for a week or so.

I never saw him as ''it'', serviceable goalie at best. Of course he's not a Stanley Cup winning goalie lol, who actually believed that?

He's here to plug a hole until someone better arrives and that someone is now on the team (Dobes).

Dobes is going to have his down points eventually. It's just the nature of the position especially as teams see him more.

Who is "better" is going to yo-yo throughout the remainder of the season. At this time, a 50/50 run makes sense but it's something to be monitored as we move forward. I'm just glad we have a viable option to share starts recently because montrmbeault has been played into the ground.

Everyone knows Monty is a stop-gap for our G prospects, and even though Dobes is in the NHL, we don't need to move Monty yet. He's basically good enough that Dobes has to be playing to his potential to earn a starter's spot over him, and not good enough that its too insurmountable for Dobes to surpass him.

And yet people still claim/believe that we are the smartest fan base in the league.
Think about the year he's had. We have a horrible start and he plays behind the worst D in the league. Then his backup craps the bed and we have to play the ever living crap out of him. It's been a pretty grueling year. And he won't have time off during the Four Nations either.
