Assuming he signs 7-years, what do you think Bennett's next AAV will be? (not what he should get, but what he will get)

I think he’s a $6M AAV player…UNTIL you add in the fact that he’s been an extremely impactful and durable playoff performer for three straight postseasons.

I can see him getting $7M-$8M. I can also see periods of disappointment in fans of whichever team gets him because his overall point production over the course of a season just isn’t that high for that salary.

Just realized he missed a bunch of time in the first of those three most recent runs. No matter, I think he’s still proven himself “when it matters” at punching above his weight.

I 100% agree about Bennett, but I don't think Florida will be able to give Ekblad something similar. Panthers have $19 million total of cap space and have numerous players expiring. Namely:

Bennett
Marchand
Ekblad
Nosek
Sturm
Samoskevich
Megna
Schmidt
Vanecek

They quite literally won't be able to fill out their roster if they consume $17 million of their $19 million on two players with nine roster spots to fill with a $750k league minimum. Also, none of their other guys under contract scream "trade candidate" where the team would improve in their absence, but they do have a ton of great contracts that would be very valuable if a team was willing to offer an NHL-ready prospect.

That was how I felt, but I just feel like he has no reason to leave Florida for a couple extra million a year. Once you already have a pile of cash to sit on, it seems kind of odd to me to compromise your lifestyle for money that isn't really going to improve your quality of life. Although it would be awfully hard to leave seven figures on the table.

But when he isnt scoring he is contributing which is why unless he decides to take a home town discount he will be 8 + guaranteed. Well worth it too.

He is clearly way better than a solid 2nd line player ridiculous comment. Those guys dont make team Canada best on best. Those players dont play at a conn smyth level in the playoffs.

Clearly worth more than that if you are paying attention to what UFA's bring. He isnt an HF boards type of player but in the real world he is.
