I have a question for y’all

I love Sam Bennett. He’s a massive part of this team and our identity. With that said, is there any concern that his style of play may not age well? He’s a very physical player, and that tends to not lend itself well to a player as they age. I have a similar concern with Tkachuk as well if I’m being honest, but he’s already locked up and is younger so it should hopefully work out.

I want to resign Bennett, but you run the risk of a long-term high AAV contract becoming an albatross if he isn’t effective in his current role anymore. I wonder if that’s part of the holdup too.
Our window is now. Secure it. We have limited assets

It's Kypreos so don't put too much stock in this.

He sits at the very top of the grit list for any team looking for that element because of how the Florida Panthers won the Stanley Cup last season -- and the Panthers have received plenty of feedback from teams that would be willing to pay a boatload to get him. Bennett would be a hard player for Florida to lose as they try and defend their championship. With 13 goals and 26 points already, Bennett is their most physical player on the roster. But with an expiring contract, there's a risk they'll lose him for nothing next summer and that's not so appealing to GM Bill Zito so from what I'm told, he'll listen.

So, it seems there's more than a 50-50 chance Bennett could be traded this season if they don’t close the negotiation gap, which sits today as wide as a football field. Unless the Panthers decide to keep him as their "own rental" I would see this as a sign and trade scenario so the Panthers and Bennett can squeeze as much out of a deal as possible. In return Florida would want a current player who can help them right away, and not just futures as they're still chasing another Stanley Cup.

Colorado would lead the charge with the void of Gabriel Landeskog out of the lineup, and with Tyler Seguin done for the season Dallas also has a major opening in the roster for someone like Bennett. Would Dallas return Mason Marchment to the Panthers?

 <---- Zito's reaction to "trading" the heartbeat of the team

I don't see trading him midseason. But I wouldn't be surprised if he went to UFA.

People are really sourcing Kypreos in 2024 ?

Maybe some will learn in 25… Geez.

A complete moron with no insider information and no knowledge in a game he played.

The epitome of bad old-school hockey… lol

I think it is quite obvious now, that Chucky is finally healthy again, took all of last year to get there IMO

Don’t over estimate this stretch… He had the same heater last season at the turning of the year, he was NHL’s leading-scorer from Christmas or January until mid-February or something…

I hope he is past his last injuries just like you though. But wait and see…

I’m glad he had this hot-streak because he was really getting concern !

And Chucky needs HIS Robin… NO WAY Benny isn’t back with us.

No. Everyone has said so far not to put too much stock in it.

It's not just his point production, it's his physical play and he is shooting more and driving to the net again.

I just really hope his camp isn’t really pushing hard for something like 8per, because someone on the market probably would give that or get close. Ideally 6per, half way between what Lundell and Verhaeghe got. But it’s probably going to end up around 7ish I imagine.

Yeah, if I start with sort of max and min boundaries, he isn’t worth more than 8 and he’s def worth more than 5… so the 6-7 range seems where he belongs… probably closer to 7.

With the projected cap numbers, 7 should get it done and be a good deal for both sides, IMO.

Yeah I’d imagine that’d be enough given everything else that comes with staying here. I was really hoping for 6per (halfway between Lundell and Verhaeghe) but there’s no way that’s happening at this point. Shifted that to hoping for give or take 6.5per, really didn’t want to touch 7 when Verhaeghe is making that much and has produced and “proved” more to deserve that salary. I get he’s a center and the physical presence is hard to put a dollar amount on but over 7 would really start to get iffy. Not to mention they have Lundell longterm at 5per. I’m not sure if you want to pay your 3rd line center that much when you have other needs to fill but in a few years maybe that’ll be closer to the equivalent of 4per or something so who knows, maybe it’s not a huge deal. But knowing they got Lundell locked in, I don’t think they’ll go crazy to keep Bennett if his camp plays hard ball.

If Zito offers more than 6-6.5 it will be a disaster.

Maybe, but with the cap going to be blowing up at a near 10mil per pace climb the next 2-3 years, ~6% of your cap doesn't sting as much if he falls off in 3-4 years.

With Bob also coming off the books no later than 2026, we can afford to have a few overpaid "core" guys.
Especially when we have Barkov, Chuck, and Reino for ~27mil for long term

I think Bennett is getting $7.5M or he walks and gets that on the open market. I get Verhaeghe signed for $7M and has better counting stats, but Bennett is widely considered to have other impacts that are highly valued.

Bennett waa picked for Team Canada instead of Verhaeghe which I think should tell us something about how he's valued across the league right now. There will be a LOT of interest for him. Add the rising cap and he's in a really strong negotiating position.

I mean....Canada already has loads of goal scoring. Scheifele for example has significantly better stats than Bennett or Verhaeghe, or Marchand etc etc. and he wasnt picked.

Bennett was picked because because of physicality...I don't think it inflates his value at all. It's just a different element.

I think the fact Benny plays with Chucky probably gave him the edge. He is being dressed specifically for tomorrow.
