I thought BT should be fired before then Bennett trade, and regardless of how much blame you put on BT regarding SB, the optics of it just adds a cherry on top

Says increasingly nervous man for the seventh time
I don't think many people are really nervous that Bennett is going to keep it up, after seeing him not keep up unsustainable performances into the new year on a consistent basis.

I don't think he's going to keep up this 110+pt pace he's on obviously..but I definitely could see him hit 50+ points consistently from now on. He's always had the talent to do so.

For sure. I don't think it's unreasonable for him to hit 40-50 points in a semi-ideal scenario, but the "nervousness" comment was very much in reference to the Bennett 1C talk going around, and the guy pretending that isn't a complete overreaction

How some Bennett fans look saying Monahan took Bennett's spot on the top line (true... Monahan shouldnt be there a lot of nights).

Flames are basically eliminated. Time to jump on the Panthers playoff bandwagon. I have no idea how long it will last, but you get at least 4 games of the first ever Panthers-Lightning playoff series that has both fanbases stoked. Let this sad-sack of a thread die. Let those who are itching to see Bennett turn into a pumpkin keep believing that. The rest of you, let's gooooooo!

Whoa, whoa, whoa, do you know how many comments laughed at the idea of a 50-60 point Sam Bennett?

I'm more amused by the word consistently, the only things consistent in Bennett's career so far are inconsistency and disappointing after raising hopes.

To be fair, the original question with the raucous laughter was whether Sam would ever hit 50-60, not whether he'd be a consistent 50+.

A consistent 50+, I don't know. But I wouldn't be surprised if it happened either.

Nothing's impossible, I just wouldn't put money on it. But I still think that maybe people should talk about hitting 35 points again before jumping to 50-60.

I think we'll be happy with Heineman but it'll be a few years before we can come back to this thread and start posting that.

13 points in 9 games. When's the last time a center did that or better with his new team after the deadline?
Roslovic (when playing a 1C role) had 10 points over an 8 game stretch when he was traded to Columbus earlier in the year. He was pulling off crazy moves and making legit plays all around the ice. Now he has 32 points in 45 games.

Barabanov isn't a centre but he's ppg since joining the Sharks, is he going to do that going forward?

Looking over it, it is rare for a true centre to be traded to a contender at the deadline and be put in their top 6 as most teams centre positions are set in stone if they are a contender. Regardless, it isn't out of the ordinary for someone to be traded to a new team and find immediate success. Look at Vrana and Mantha, both are popping off after the trade but no sane person thinks either of them will maintain goal per game paces.

After 400+ games of sub-par play as a Flame, it is going to take more than 9 games to crown Bennett anything close to a #1C in the NHL. If we look back a season from now and he and Barkov are the most feared duo in the NHL, I'll gladly eat my words, but as Flames fans we've seen this story time and time again where 'playoff Bennett' can't translate to an 82 game season pace.
