I think fans worry a lot more about the cap than teams do, whether it’s NHL or NFL.

especially in the nfl. The cap is very easy to work around if you have smart people in charge.

Saints have been in cap hell next year for about 15 years. The only year they really had issues getting by was the year they had to pay Jimmy Graham, who simultaneously had a galaxy-brained take about cutting and trading guys at the same time.
