Does Parekh have a physical edge?
Not really. He gets under opponents' skin like Brad Marchand. So its the same idea. Having a physical edge in today's game is more about getting into your opponents' head than it is about being an effective producer like it was decades ago. In that sense he does has a similar effect to a guy that lays the lumber on a player to set a tone. Get them rattled or off their game. Every team will hate Zanye's guts. He's s**t starter that takes heat off other players. He's a supreme heel with supreme talent.

It may be so, Marchand is a good player but not Boston's best, unfortunately it is very risky for a player of Zayne Parekh's value to do. The Spirit needs him on the ice, they can not afford to lose its best defenceman to penalties, injuries or even suspensions, find other player(s) to fill that role on the team, I would strongly suggest

It may be his attempt to goad the other team into bad play and insigate but in doing it he is playing the role of a pitata. All efforts to unsettle the Spirit are directed at him. It hasn't happened yet, but afraid it will... he is going to get hurt.
Personally I feel he is a kid with control issues.

He is an outstanding offensive talent and should just stay focused and learn how to play with class... you don't want to be carrying that reputation into the pro's.

Everyone knows I'm not the biggest Zayne fan but what has he done this year that's made him seem like a pest? We all know he lives rent free in the Soo and London fan's heads but he really hasn't done anything this year from what I've seen and lately, he seems to care a little bit more and his output is showing it. Maybe Calgary called down and told him to give a crap or something.

He’s still the same little prick he has been on the ice. Always trying to start shit and then hides behind officials and teammates.

He hasn’t changed at all.

Got a suspension earlier this year and also I believe there’s a rumour going around he laid hands on a fan earlier this season.

On top of all the antics last year including just against Kingston last year he spit on 2 different players in the same game. Wouldn’t be shocked if someone on Kingston tried to take a run at him because of it in the only 2 games they play on the 24th(this Friday) and 30th of january

Very talented but still had a lot to learn.

I think the last few posts prove my point. He's Brad Marchand on defense.
I’ve seen Marchand actually stick up for himself occasionally along with dropping the gloves. I’m being serious and asking…has Zayne ever picked up a fighting major? I’m biased but it seems he’s usually just got his stick up high trying to find a linesman to get behind.

In all fairness Marchand is a grown man that’s why he gets so much heat. Zayne is 18. But still very childish you should know better by that age.

If there’s ever going to be a fighting major in his junior career. Friday may be the day against burns who he spit in the face of or if he wants to pick a smaller combatant- uens.

McNamara is the other guy who he spit in the face of but he’s on Windsor now.

Id like to know how Marchand was when he was in the QMJHL.

Perhaps another comparison could be Sean Avery on defence.

Or Ryan merkley……..

People always love bringing Merkley up but I always say Merkley wishes he was as talented as Parekh. Plus Merkley's own teammates disliked him. I've never heard the same about Zayne.

That’s the best comparison for him.

Who knows maybe in a year he’s more mature.

Well said, @swoopster he really has to concentrate more on developing his total game. We all know the talents there in spades but must focus more on diffusing all the BS. To get under a guys skin is one thing but persistently trying stupid shit and hurting the team with penalties and suspensions. I’ll take him getting 5pts in one game and showing his skill.
Very hard to change but it gets harder the longer you play that style. Lazary has been his coach for 3 seasons. He needs hard nosed coach that can tame the young man into focusing on his immediate tasks and highlighting talent at the next level

I mentioned with Schaefer out if Misa could make up some ground on him for 1st overall. Incredibly he is actually picking up his pace lately. At least 2 points in the last 8 games (8g, 11a over that span). Opened up 5 pt lead on the OHL scoring race.

Real classy team you got there, Saginaw. Maybe that bullsh*t act Parekh and Misa showed today is one reason they weren't selected to the World Junior team.

What did they do? I didn't watch the game...I saw that Misa had a high stick which I watched on the replay and it was a pretty run of the mill high stick and Parekh had an unsportsmanlike 2min and it looked like it was something after a goal that wasn't shown on the broadcast.

Both Misa and Parekh staring at Cameron after they scored their goals, and after one in particular, they skated by the Ottawa bench, stopped, and hugged each other while staring at him.

Oh jeez...ok thanks...I guess in the far east of Ottawa you don't see Parekh very often but this is pretty tame compared to the normal complaints from Soo and London fans.

You don't think they both have a chip on their shoulder after being snubbed for the team? There's a pretty good percentage of Canadian hockey fans that feel the same way too based on what I saw on message boards and twitter following the selection day and early exit of Team Canada. Plus, don't forget that Chris Lazary was an assistant coach for the team as well...I can virtually guarantee that he was advocating for selecting his players and he was likely overruled. I'm sure he had a conversation with Misa and Parekh when he got back and then he probably told them both pre-game yesterday (from a motivational standpoint) to go out and stick it to the guy who didn't want them on the team.

Regardless, thanks for the info, it's not a big deal to me but as an Ottawa/Cameron fan, I can definitely see why you felt it wasn't classy.

Who said I was a Cameron fan? I think he got the point on the first goal, if not before. Should they have been on the team? A good possibility, yes. Were they pissed? Absolutely. So were probably 100 other guys over the years that thought they should be there. They got over it. Go play hockey. That kind of stuff doesn't get unnoticed by others that will ultimately make decisions about them later on in their hockey life.

The pearl clutching is a bit much. No one really cares if they gave Cameron a stare down. As mentioned by Don, I'm sure Lazary wanted to hang as many goals as possible on the 67's as well because Lord knows he didn't see eye to eye with anything DC wanted to do. Hockey players are notorious for being soulless robots. God forbid any of them show any kind of personality.
