Reffing is questionable in every league.
Knights are the most penalized team this season. Some teams take more penalties in games than their opponent. Only saw Saginaw once but from that viewing they look like a solid squad. Knights are prone to play on or over the edge. Sometimes the refs call everything. Obviously Lawrence and Simm did something serious to get 5 games. Series is far from over. On to the next game.
100% agree with the Lawrence penalty and suspension. I cannot comment on the Sim suspension as I doubt the league will divulge what was said. From what I have heard he called a player from Saginaw a word that rhymes with wussy. If that's the case then he entire league should have had this suspension at least once. A little over the top if you ask me. And like I said that's if thats what he called him. Only he and the official know. Losing Sim is huge....he does alot of good things. He's a big reason why we had such a good year.

I’m not even a Spirit fan lol. I would’ve given Lawerence more than 5, Guo more than 5, Parekh 2-3. Parekh was guilty, but it was more of a hockey play, and wasn’t an additional player in the mix. Clear intent to injure.

Soft suspension if that’s what he said. To an official maybe? But no way that’s 5, insane if so. A gay slur, that was ‘acceptable’ 15 ago, would be my guess. There’s some words you shouldn’t say… but there are times in this league that guys are playing like… wussies… doesn’t feel suspension worthy to call em out on it

It was a word used to describe a young feline

No dog in this fight but Sim must of said something to piss the league off to get that suspension.
Feels severe… I don’t remember it, was this at a faceoff? Verbal abuse of official? Anything that’s not racially or homophobic driven/slur doesn’t justify 5 in my eyes

Also, Oke returns to the bench today.. is today Saginaws biggest home game ever?!

Ive heard that rumor, and I’ve never hoped that a player called someone a “c*** ******* ****** f** that ***** d**** h****” more in my lifetime.

I’m all for making the OHL an inclusive space to play, but sometimes… guys are playing like young felines.

I love me some Roddy D, but you get called for two diving penalties in one game you better be ready to be called a young feline as well…

Somehow “young feline” sounds more offensive than the term Sims rumored 5 games out for lol

Part of the suspension was for calling the player a ‘name’ and extra was given for contact made during pre-game warm ups.

Both would be wrong on Sim. But I can't help but wonder why the warmup infraction was not called at the time ( unless the linesman, who were present for the warmup missed it and they had video? ) I dunno. Cause the lines were active in patrolling the red line from what I saw during warmup. Doubt we get told but I'm sure someone on here has heard.

Is what it is and LK only has 2 lines now they will trust this afternoon.
LK has let the Saggys mind games , or their own attempt at mind games get to them and it has cost them.

Saginaw is winning the head games. And have a great op to force a game 7 and win.

Whatever Sim said wasn't for the benefit of his team. He now sits 5 games regardless of what anyone thinks. That won't change. Anyway if these games were without drama we would all have to watch Soap Opreras.

Weird that something that happened pre-game wouldn't be addressed at the beginning of the game

Maybe it was found out during information gathering that a warning was given, maybe the same player was involved. That would be grounds for a cumulative effect.

How does anyone but the players and officials know what he said? Not sure some random fan posting on Twitter would truly have any idea? Fake news. What ever he said, did, the league determined it was worth a 5 game suspension. Can't change that.
Rob Simpson assistant gm of knights confirmed it. It was in response to a Saginaw player threatening to reinjure Sims shoulder.

Apparently that word is worse than fhreatening to injure a player.

Laugh all you want Dirty, it was just broadcast on the Knights radio feed. Knights would not fabricate it publicly, that would put them at risk of a court case.

I can see that but it does not confirm what was actually said. That's what is being tossed around, what he actually said, and there is no real confirmation of that.

An officer of the team confirms publicly the reason given by the league to the team and thats not good enough for you? Ok sparky. You do you.

No I'm not questioning he responded to something that was said to him or what Simpson said, just the fact that the exact wording was posted and that's, as far as I know, was never made public. I don't doubt for a minute he was responding to something that was said to him.

Ok.. so the suspension key is:

Bounty:Regular season suspension
Direct verbal threat=0
Baby Feline= Falls under the league bullying policy

Well Rob Simpson confirmed. I feel the reasoning for him to do that was to expose the duplicity of the league officiating.

Ok, I'm wrong then because I did not see something from Simpson that confirmed Sim called another player a p----y. I will look for the quote.

League just announced that Sim also was guilty of a pre-game body check. Which is a big no-no.

All this just as the game starts.
