If they get both of these guys to commit they just easily just won the draft. Wow.

I would say odds are real good on Igor. Pre draft word his contract was being voided in Russia to sign with San Jose AND his agent is GoldStar who has a close relationship with Saginaw.

Lucas is a wild card

Igor has already played some games with mature skaters in the KHL with Dynamo. Pettersson also has a good base to stay in Sweeden ...BUT if they both showed up...Memorial Cup 2!

If indeed they bring in these two picks, Parekh stays and will not be moved. It will be a powerhouse team again..
Absolutely. Less movement but if they get both of these guys you have to think they’re definitely the favourites in the west and league right now

They'll need a proven goalie too, which will probably be Andre Oke for his over age season, unless someone signs him and puts him in their minor league system.

If oke isn’t the guy(gets signed and doesn’t come back) Liam Sztuska would be one hell of a guy to go with assuming he is available and he has mem cup experience from their OHL championship year. He played amazing last year. Stats would’ve been way better on a team that didn’t trade off every valuable piece they had.

I see Saginaw having a very good team next year but replacing the loses on D with depleted draft assets will be a significant challenge.

I would asses the team to be better than average just from the some of the remaining star players, but outside of real contention despite winning the import draft.

Well done!

Drinkill always has an ace up his sleeve, not saying they will be last years team but the F will be strong with one of the import picks signing. The D needs 2 good players an OA, + a depth D

Parekh, Misa, and Zhilkin selected to participate in Hockey Canadas Program of Excellence camp.

Interesting because Dima must have decided to rep Canada internationally despite being Russian

Is it a run it back year for the Spirit?
It will be hard for Saginaw to take another run at a championship. They only have one, 2nd, one, 3rd and possibly another 3rd as part of conditions of the Owen Lalonde trade, three 4ths and one, 5th in the next four drafts to obtain the players they need. Those picks might get you one big name and a depth player. They also do not any excess overages that will return to trade to add additional draft picks. To be a true contender they will need to add a centre to play in the top six, a left winger and a top four defenceman. They do not have the assets to make these trades.

I don’t think it’ll be super smart for them to run it back but I can’t see them selling the farm in parekhs dy+1(already won chl d man of the year- may go back to back) and misas draft year (projected top 5 pick) to go with the Russian, Willis etc. they should still have a solid group and may win their division.

Could be the same matchup once again in the west finals this year, with the same result.
