NHL has a great photo of Botts holding the winning card but I don’t know how to post it here on an iPad.

And I’m not getting up.

I'm glad he went to Buffalo. Young core that he can 'grow up' together with, an all-time great d-man as a coach, and gets to play in a real hockey town (not Carolina).

I don't think he'll have the same immediately visible impact as guys like Eichel, McDavid or Matthews, being a defenseman. The first year will be all about learning, the second will be about establishing himself as a top pairing guy, and the third will be where things truly take off.

Dahlin you’re gonna put on the red light
Those days aren’t over you don't have to sell out your body tonight
Dahlin you don't have to wear that frown tonight
Deke by all five guys you don't care if it's wrong or if it's right
Dahlin! You’re gonna put on the red light

I know my mind is made up. We don’t need to trade up.
I told you once I won't tell you again you’re a Sabre now.

So for those who still care (probably none of you lol), I was wrong on the odds. They are much closer to even than thought. You cannot use the number of combinations remaining, because that ignores that an unlikely event did happen, namely that a low odd team did in fact win one of the three drawings. The fact that Carolina only had a 10% chance to reach the final 3 while Buffalo had a 50-50 chance to reach the final 3 needs to be taken into account.

Here's a link to the post on the main forum where I brute force the correct percentages (Buffalo did indeed have about 38% to win the #1 pick). http://hfboards.mandatory.com/posts/145309165/

Jeff Marek - Sportsnet - January 10th: "After the WJC there is zero doubt who the top draft pick should be in June. Dahlin has everything you want in a defenceman in 2018. Can help turn a franchise around."

Cam Robinson - Dobber Prospects - January 9th: "He has all the tools to become a game-changing pillar for an organization. His effortless skating and offensive tools make you swoon while his defensive game grows with each passing contest. An outstanding World Juniors, and will be a prominent figure on the Olympic squad in a few weeks. A border-line generational talent on the backend."

Craig Button - TSN January - 8th: "He is a franchise-defining defenceman with an unprecedented ability to control the game in all areas. The last blueliner I saw with that capability at this age was Victor Hedman. "

Sam Cosentino - Sportsnet - December 6th: "Nothing has changed in the eyes of scouts and the Olympics will likely prove that he’ll be ready to play in the NHL as early as next season."

Mike Morreale - NHL.com - October 3rd: "He's been the best prospect in Sweden for years," said Goran Stubb, the NHL director of European Scouting. "He's a smart, two-way D-man who can control the game in almost every situation using his stickhandling, smooth skating and overall skills. He's not overly physical bu
