Tage might be a 40 goal player this year, but having him on the ice for critical moments kills us. I would trade him for a 30 goal guy who isn’t as dumb as a brick easily.

It makes the future feel beyond bleak ... like I literally hate watching Tage Thompson play and he's a 40ish goal guy.

Tage feels like a pad the stats kind of guy without the feel of any ability to be clutch.

Too many times the Sabres have been down, needing a goal, and Tage being our leading goal scorer doesn’t feel like he’s capable of answering.

He’s a weird goal scorer for sure.

Montreal thrives on odd man rushes on the counterattack. Buffalo is really good at coughing up the puck at the attacking blueline

Tage is a complimentary player at best and would be an excellent top 6 on a good team that didn't need to depend on him in crucial moments. He's not clutch, and he struggles to fight through other teams top defensive players.

That's about what $7m buys you.
