I remember everyone thinking Brandon Montour and Evan Rodrigues were just dumb players.
Montour has had 1 kick ass year. I don't get the love for this guy
No one thought Rodrigues was a dumb player.

Florida kept Montour’s game simple and he excelled on the power play. But look at the rest of that Florida roster. Montour was the only one.

Buffalo has at least 5 players playing big time roles who do dumb things all the time. There’s no comparison to Florida.

I’m not going to go search through old GDTs, but my god, people thought Rodrigues was dumb.

Same thing with E-Rod .. good depth player? .. Sure... he is a 30 to 40 point guy. Good support guy for a cup competing team... Doesn't move the needle on the Sabres

Just for reference, pick Thompson, Peterka, or Power in this game exclusively. Count the dumb decisions.

Add in Krebs. You see how he should’ve just given the puck to Peterka? But he held it and got a low angle shot. Dumb play.

Coach the dumb plays away. That’s his job.
Have you ever coached a team?

You can do two things with a low IQ player. Structure them so significantly that they become robots, or move on from them.

When your 1C, 2C, 4C, 1LW, and 2D are all low IQ players, exactly how structured would Ruff have to make it?

Scotty Bowman in his prime couldn’t do it.

And on cue, Power lets the Bruins off the hook.

It NEVER looked this bad with Granato. People will hate to admit this.
Granato turned the team into a developmental team and just let them play. For every dumb decision, they made an elite physical play.

Granato got the team moving in the right direction but when he tried to get the Sabres to play a normal team structure, you got last year.

Again, it was never close to this bad with Granato. Lindy has done a terrible job.

Not real sure that was a penalty on Wahlstrom.....but maybe we'll take it, given that the PP hasn't been complete and utter trash tonight? Maybe?
I'd say the pp has been bad compared to normal teams but good for being Sabres. I'd say a shorty is almost as likely as an equalizer.
