Nope. Considering the growth in team value, the hundreds of millions of free dollars from expansion, the league (and Bettman) are operating exactly how the owners want.

They’re the only major league that relies on ticket sales to turn profits.

Everyone else is raking in a ton before one ticket is sold.

He took a sport ahead of basketball when he took over and made it such a distant fourth that non major leagues have surpassed it.

He’s the worst Commissioner in any league.

Boot licking him in any market would be embarrassing. Doing it in one where the owner is cheap because it “loses him money” is really something.

I bitch at this team when they deserve it. So I need to applaud them when they deserve that too.

They could have folded when the 2nd period went so badly. Or when the goal was disallowed.

But they didn't. They held on, smartly ran out the clock in the 3rd, and won it in OT.

Well done guys. Well done. :thumbu:

The announcers kept saying they would have pressured the puck to try and make sure they didn’t have the full two minutes of PP time in OT.

Am I the only one who wouldn’t have? There is virtually zero chance I’m winning in regulation. And a higher than zero chance they score on the PP in regulation if there’s nearly a minute of it. Then I get zero points. Yes…they’re more likely to score the more PP time they have in OT….but the only thing I can control is that first point. I’m not risking it to shave some time off the OT man advantage. I need to get to OT for that to matter. And they give me a free point for doing it.

Yeah, agreed. Plus if the Blues push too much there.........there's a huge risk of Buffalo going odd-man the other way and ending it in regulation.

Once that arm went up, both sides had ample reason to just send it into OT right there.

I liked that them burning the last 55 or so seconds was not just smart, but it mattered. If St. Louis has any stones and challenges the puck carrier, the OT likely isn't long enough for us to score in OT. We played smart and were rewarded for it.
gets lindy and staff the first stsr

Right, I felt like everyone wanted to get to OT anyway. And then they took the penalty….but I’m not changing my position on the getting to OT part because they’re more likely to win in OT now. Because they’re also much more likely to win in regulation now if I touch the puck. They’re getting two minutes either way…I’d rather be handed a point while they get it than risk getting nothing.

I thought the first period was really good. Things got kind of sloppy after that. If this was Levi’s audition to stay up with the big club I think he failed. Probably time to send him down to the Amerks for some more seasoning (whenever UPL is ready to go).

Yeah, that chance from Zucker, the earlier chance out of Benson... they had a strong first. Feels like the Blues as a veteran squad did make the right adjustments and of course motivated to get off a losing streak against the league's biggest patsy...

Vaguely paid attention to this game. Watched a bit, listened to a bit while driving, misses the actual win in OT. Glad we are back to 500. Can they please string together something like 7 points in the next 5 games so we solidify things a bit. I am tired of thinking "if they win x number of games they'll be back in the race". I just want them to be in the race full stop! (or as you North Americans say ... period!)

Power with 23:00 minutes, Dahlin with 27:31 and Byram with 27:35. Byram had 10:47 in the third period alone, Dahlin 10:33 in the third and then the entire OT PP.

This reminds me a bit of the Big Three in Montreal.

One more top 4D is missing.
