Rumor: Sabres trying to trade Ristolainen

AA + 3rd/Lindstrom/Svechnikov for Rasmus Ristolainen?

Lindstrom was a 2nd round pick a couple of years ago. Good defensive D that's succeeding in Sweden and projects as a steady #4. Svechnikov was a 1st round winger that has tons of skill but his career has been derailed by injuries burying him in Detroit's winger depth chart. Or you can take our 3rd. Your choice.

I would be all over an AA and Svechnikov offer. Immediate top 6 upgrade and a good solid depth guy for the bottom 6 who I feel can grow as a player

If Bruins didn't have a bit of a logjam at RD I actually would be really intrigued by Risto. Play him with Chara and hope that he improves his defensive game by doing so, but at the same time it would allow him to play to his strengths since Big Z is the stay at home guy on the pairing.

He shouldn't be moved in a deal returning multiple lesser pieces. Buffalo now has some depth at RD. Hold onto it into the season if a proper deal doesn't come along. Waiting may even increase what Buffalo can get in return as prices seem to rise mid-season.

This. We finally have depth on defense. We need to keep him unless a great offer comes by, which is unlikely. He can finally be sheltered and watch him succeed in that role. He has all the tools, but no toolbox.

If we move Risto, I doubt we're looking for a similar D in return--it's gotta be for long-term help in our top 6 forwards.

I'm not a fan of either team, just going off past rumors of TB's interest in Risto. TB gets a RHD to play with Hedman or McD while giving up a good young LHD and a veteran top 9 FWD(and a bit of a cap dump).

So you want a defenseman that's just as good as him AND a top 6 forward? How does that make any sense?
How are we determining that Sergachev is "just as good" as Ristolainen? By his results on one of the best teams in hockey playing a sheltered role? I like Sergachev and would love to land him and a deal centered around him is certainly worth listening to, but he's never had to handle anywhere near the role Ristolainen has. So could he potentially be as good or better than Ristolainen? Absolutely. At this moment? Probably not.
As for Killorn or Palat I don't think they hold much value at this point given their contracts and TB's need to clear cap space. My interest in either would be lukewarm at best.
