I wouldn't. For a week sure but not for a couple days. I shudder just thinking about it

Why are they suspending him anyways? Just let it go...

I've taken 4 day vacations to Hawaii multiple times. Fly out at 8am on Thursday get there in time for lunch and then fly home Sunday night and arrive home at 6am monday morning in time to shower and head to work. :D

He's nineteen years old. Most nineteen year old kids are freshmen in college trying to get into parties and picking up girls. He's playing hockey professionally with his entire life under a microscope. Some of you need to lay off, at least until he's been around a little bit longer and learned how to be a professional.

Bad move.

It must be painful to play for the Sabres. I wouldn't be in a hurry to return to a club that checked out before the season even started as well. What a situation to develop in

So if players team is a bottom dweller then it's understandable that they come and go as they please?
Guess you don't understand that playing in the NHL is a job. You get paid money and in return you train and play for your employer. If one doesn't like the trade-off they are always free not to play and not get paid.
Guess I shouldn't have responded but the post was too asinine even on general board standards.

edit. So the kid made a mistake , he'll be suspended for a game or two , lesson learned and he will be smarter in the future. Not that big of a deal.

DISCLAIMER Every individual and situation is different, so the following isn't an "exact" prediction or being used to insult any player or person

A few months before Seguin was dealt there was an incident where he overslept and missed a team breakfast/meeting (depending on which report u believe). Many posters in the B's forum were saying the same defenses: When I was 20 I did lots of stupid immature things.... No big deal... So he went out and had fun the night before an off day, who cares... etc

A few months later a lot of those same people were saying "Seguin had to go, he was too immature" "He wasn't a professional and didn't put the team above his off ice fun" etc

I guess what I'm saying is this: If this is 1 incident in a young player's life and is just one of those things... it is no big deal. If it is a little peak at a player's ethic and character, it may be a big thing.

At this point I give the kid a break and assume he'll learn from this, but I'm not ready to say it's a complete non-issue. It's more like, "Not a bid deal, but keep in on record for future evaluation"

True, and I'd put it this way - if this happened to a vet or even another rookie in good standing, the team probably would have let it slide. The fact that they went as far as suspending him suggests to me that this probably isn't the very first time Zadorov fell out of line.

The point being that Seguin turn out bad! Oh. Wait...

Or similar to young children you are harder on them right off the bat to set a tone and where the line is, while you are more relaxed with more mature people for similar offenses. It's a non-story.

What?

He's 19 years old making boatloads of money. If you've played hockey, you've probably played on some losing teams. Big deal - especially at 19!

The Stars sat a 35 year old for the season opener in October for getting to a practice late after a missed flight. It has nothing to do with age or character. Sometimes **** just happens.

We should all make as big a deal out of this as we possibly can. Imagine, a 19 year old is late to work and his boss responds appropriately!

Zadorov was on oversold flight back to BUF from the DR and Nolan said #Sabres probably could have done better job to stay in touch with him.

Nolan re Zadorov: "You can't put the blame on a 19-year-old kid sometimes. We've got to take a little bit of responsibility also." #Sabres

Nikita Zadorov, suspended by BUF for failing to report on time after ASW, will join Sabres in CGY today. Suspension lifted when he arrives.

Some suspension, eh?

Airline overbooks flight, player can't get home

Bad attitude, problem personality

Don Cherry's version:

"19 year-old Russian with no character and too much money for his own good overstays his vacation in DR and bribes the airline to tell the Sabres brass that they overbooked. He's got no heart and needs to book his flight to the KHL instead."

Yet if it were good Canadian boy, it's "Hey, let kids be kids, I tell ya!"
