Confirmed with Link: Sabres sign F Tyler Kopff to 2-year ELC. Will join Amerks on PTO for remainder of season.

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Not to steal Craig Rivet’s gimmick but…6’4 205 pounds whenever those measurements came from. Obviously smart because he signed with a team with tiny people in the pipeline. Also because he went to Brown

We are allowed 50 contracts and we are at 44 contracts according to AI. It sounds like we got a few more to go then. Although the 44 probably doesn't include Kopff.

I hope we offer one to Sardarian.

If we can take some of those young forwards and turn them into an older defenseman and forward, they can always use young guys to replenish.

I know. It’s the Sabres.
Sabres have lots of forwards. But they are small

Remember basketball games with bugs bunny vs the monsters. That’s what crunch vs marks game looked like the other noght

Size is good

@Chainshot was this a guy you liked ?

Not a guy I'm up on. I may see if I can find any Brown games. They weren't on my viewing calendar.

Where does this leave Sardarian? How many contracts can we offer?

They still have his rights for another year. With the glut of small offensive guys that aren't going to be gone by next season, leaving him for another year in college works.

See above. Too much small, few scoring line spots that aren't already filled.

Went to the Vegas dev camp this past summer:

Was a pick of the Lincoln Stars in the USHL:

Tyler Kopff, Ridgewood, F - Drafted 87th overall by Lincoln Stars

Kopff graduated from Ridgewood in the spring of 2021 after racking up 25 goals and 15 assists. His career came to a close with 66 goals and 124 points. He spent the 2021-22 season with the Coquitlam Express in the BCHL and registered 21 goals and 20 assists in 53 games. In 2021 he was a Third Team All-State honoree.

There is a lot of Murray/Mersch to his offense. He's right around the net and keeps pucks alive based on these highlights. Can also shoot through a keyhole.

Dare I say, as an AHL signing... I like it? He's tall, kind of rangy, not a smurf. The downside is probably that he's a left shot.

Also a weird note that among his most frequent teammates is Ryan St. Louis, Marty's son who is also a 2nd year player at Brown but also on two different teams at the Quebec Peewee tournament (from what I can tell both an 11-year old team and a 13 year old team).

Shaw’s scouting report:

“Tyler is a big-body forward. He can play with skill, but can also play a power-forward game as well. He has a great shot as well as the ability to make plays. He’ll be an offensive player for us, but he also pays close attention to the little details in his game like getting pucks out and getting pucks in deep. He’ll be a big part of our lineup.”

Not much but what Coquitlam coach Brandon Shaw had to say about him the one year Shaw was coach/GM there. (Shaw has been an assistant coach in the OHL the three years since, 2 with Niagara then this year in Owen Sound.)
