I commend all of you for keeping your passion for this dog**** team all these years. Sports are meant to be a refuge, something that you can enjoy and take some time out of your day to relax and have fun with but this team is anything but that. It's not even the playoff drought that gets me, yes that's frustrating and I want to see this team in the playoffs but honestly it's more than that, the inconsistency, the lack of passion on the ice, no backbone, no confidence. So sick of seeing other teams take liberties around our net and our players doing anything they can to stay away from it and seeing the opposite on the other end. This is a group of players who say all the right things but when it comes down to doing it on the ice, their words are empty and have no meaning, truly an unlikeable team in almost all facets.

By the way, I still don't understand, was it Jokiharju who did this in the second goal? Because I didn't make it out in the highlights.

Stats match the eye test on Tage. @MOGlLNY

He should not be trying to play through this injury.

We're 0-2-1 with injured Tage in the lineup. Being shut out twice.

Just let the man rest and get healthy.
I don’t think he’s hurt though - we know Tage takes a bit to get going.

Now 5th in the WC race when ranked by point percentage. Consistency will be critical from here on in.

Last night's goals against ...

Power just has to tie up Lee's stick to prevent the PP far-post redirect. Instead he fronts him, presumably to break up the pass, but that also risks putting it into his own net. No chance for Reimer.

Joker's poorly considered pinch, with no forward providing neutral zone coverage, inevitably leads to a 2-on-1. He then compounds his mistake by stumbling and futilely contesting possession along the boards, instead of immediately racing back to the d-zone. He may have been gassed, being 40 seconds into his shift when the goal was scored. Of course, that just makes his pinch an even worse decision than if he had been fresh. Power fails in his primary job in that situation - preventing the cross-ice pass. Only a highlight reel stop would have prevented the goal.

I'm picking somewhat unfairly on that pairing. Similar examples abound throughout the roster from game to game.

The players are the ones making mistakes, but their defensive play is not indicative of a well-coached team.

There are quite a few borderline fringe NHL players who would be more effective than most of our forwards for the simple reason that they will actually do the things you need to do to win.

Tage hasn’t missed more than 10% of a season in 5 seasons. Criticize whatever but this baseless thing I keep seeing about Tage always being hurt isn’t true lol
I haven't checked any data but it seems the past 2 season Tage has been on the receiving end of injuries way more than the 1st 3.

I mean let's face it, after his break out season, he became a legitimate target by opponents. The game is quite nasty in that way.

That's just a bit of a leap too far for me.

Yes, defensive play was bad last night. But pretty good the previous few games. Ruff has them geared to play close, tight games. Its not run and gun a la Granato.

There was no jump in their game last night. The team was clearly gassed and both the Islanders style of play and the terrible ice contributed. Not making excuses for anyone but I still believe that Ruff knows what he is doing. One problem is that our so called (near) elite players are not really playing anywhere near elite. Comes back to bite ya in the ass sooner or later.
