Friedman: Sabres gauging the market on Byram

Right handed top 4 defenseman that is a team leader and warrior. Is also a great PKer and solid at defending in his own zone. Also making 4.55M. Sure there are probably better fits but good luck getting them, teams generally don't give away the type of player you are looking for.
Andersson, at the very minimum, would be the best partner that Power has had. The issue with him.....as brought up......is will he re-sign in Buffalo?

Man between this and the recent report about Peterka they might be blowing it up AGAIN
Those two players are arguably closer to being part of the problem than the solution, so them leaving is not really an issue.

Same with players asking out. If/when Dahlin and Thompson ask out, that’s where the rebuild re-starts, not some mid-tier RFAs. And that may happen as soon as next summer though since I can’t see Dahlin wanting to play in Buffalo anymore if they miss one more time.

Of course. As it's been said multiple times. If he's not willing to sign an extension, there's no conversation to be had. Plenty of teams will have interest in Andersson, so they don't have to trade him there. Players like Byram/Quinn/Krebs just happen to fit Conney's M.O over the last couple years.

Joshua and what else?? Or I should say, what else and Joshua? Because surely there’s no way you’re suggesting we trade a guy thriving on our top pairing with Dahlin for a 3rd-4th liner.
He's a 3rd liner and a big time playoff performer who ends up getting 2nd line minutes in the playoffs. I proposed him and Willander, a RHD who is one of my favorite prospects and basically ready for the NHL, and Canucks fans seemed open to it.

I don't really want to trade Peterka, but that's a deal I'd do.
