As a Rangers fan, the more i see Byram mentioned in a Rangers proposal the more i think it's just not a fit. I mean, the player is a fit but i don't know if there is a trade that both fanbases would like. We can't trade Cuylle for Byram and Buffalo fans don't want Laf for Byram. Just not a match imo

Leafs should be interested. But I think Sabres fans will be disappointed with his eventual return given he returned Middlestat and then hasn't exactly done anything in Buffalo

2OA for Bryam (though he had the initial deal with Powers, he made clear that Byram was interchangeable with him, he only preferred Powers) and 9OA.

I'm curious on Buff fans thoughts on this proposal.

I'd assume that's a draft day deal predicated on Misa being available? My preference is to use one of Power or Byram of more immediate forward help. But that would be a deal I'd take.

Sabres could very much use a partner for Dahlin.

I know that people here in Vancouver are freaking out about Quinn leaving despite Quinn himself saying the opposite and the whole thing started over a tongue in cheek comment about luring his brothers here but the truth is it's almost unheard of for a captain to leave in his prime.
These guys want to bring a cup to the team that drafted them and made them captain, it's just the MO for hockey players.
The only way I see him wanting our is if we Completely go through a long rebuild.

Also trading his partner for an inferior player, doesn't exactly help the team win or show Quinn the team wants to win.

Serious tho, I've never seen so much BS coming out of people's mouth when it comes to a player who can't even re-sign for a year and the fact that's it's based on wanting to play with siblings is ridiculous.

I mean would you leave the city you've been in for 10 years where they have done everything to be a contender and made you the face of the franchise in one of the most beautiful cities to go for less money and not a juggernaut in NJ?

Byram right now statistically is very similar to Hronek at the time he was traded to Vancouver.

He’s been healthy for 2 1/2 years now. People also tend to forget how young he is and how few NHL games he’s played.

I’d encourage people to compare his even-strength numbers this year to Moritz Seider and Jake Sanderson, two of his peers in age and first-pairing usage who don’t play for Buffalo.

He’s at a career breakout point and is going to take off in the right situation. I suspect a number of GMs are looking closely at what it will take and one of them will be looking pretty smart next year.

He's the guy i'd shop out of their various trade chips to make the team better. You've already got Dahlin and Power locked in as LH shooting offensive defencemen. Byram's contract negotiations are also going to be...complicated.


But if i'm a team trading for him...i'm not spending the world, because of the obvious durability issues. So it'll be fascinating to see how that plays out over the summer.

He’s a great defensive player but incredibly pedestrian on the offensive side of the puck. A lot of Sabres fans are still daydreaming of the player they thought he’d develop into (but didn’t) back when he was ~22.

Weegar isn't at all available and almost certainly won't waive for anywhere. He just had a kid and wants to settle down.

There is absolutely something that could be built around Andersson though. He would be good for the Sabres PK and 2nd unit, and fantastic for their leadership group. That's probably what he would bring the most. Sabres would have to be willing to pay him to stay though and he's reportedly interested in something similar to the Chychrun deal, though I think he would sign for 8-8.5M long term

Disappointing to read about Weegar. He's exactly what Buffalo needs in a partner for Power. Andersson doesn't interest me as much.

Theyre pretty tight against the cap once they sign all their RFAs. A retool is needed. Just have to hope they target the right players to move and acquire. What 5 years of mediocre GMing does to a team...eeek.

Hes been healthy for over 2+ yrs. He played all this yr iirc

Generally players like Weegar never become available. Andersson is only on the block because Calgary doesn't need more vets on big long term deals. Especially at RD with guys like Parekh, Brzustewicz, and Mews coming

First off no, I don't only watch the Sabres when they play the Leafs that's simply not true. I have center ice every year, I'm watching at least 1 game every night, it's not always the Sabres but I'm watching a game every night.

I guarantee you I watched more Sabres games last year than you watched Leaf games.

Secondly the Leafs and Sabres are in the same division of course I'm going to know What's going on with them they are a division and conference rival.
